Only God Can Be All Things To All People

The system of checks and balances was created with human nature in mind. It works against tyranny and dictatorship by keeping any one person or group from having all the power. In other words, it keeps government from trying to play God. Government can never be all things to all people; only God can be everything to all people. So, today we praise God as King. As Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, He works for the highest good of His people by placing people in authority to rule and govern the land.

God's Laws Are Still Relevant Today

Civil government is a paradoxical idea: it sets limits and creates laws so that freedom can flourish. It promotes the well-being of its citizens while protecting them against evil. So, as Paul writes in Romans 13, we submit to governing authorities by doing what is good. When a government uses God as the ultimate barometer for good and evil, the society works beautifully. Pray today for Christian leaders to influence your political authorities so that God is the ultimate standard for right and wrong.

The aim of government is to keep evil in check, both locally and across the nation, so that good can flourish. Our prayer today is for wisdom for those who make decisions, policies, and managing national affairs. Let us seek to make a difference in the culture of our country.

PRAYER GUIDE FOR OUR GOVERNMENT

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." – 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Praying for the President and Vice President
Scripture: Proverbs 21:1-2
The king's heart is in the hand of the Lord, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the hearts.

- Pray for wisdom and discernment in decision-making.
- Ask God to guide their hearts toward righteousness and justice.
- Pray for physical health, emotional strength, and spiritual renewal.
- Ask for godly counsel to surround them and influence their leadership.

A Prayer for Our President

Lord, as we unite to pray for our President, namely Donald J. Trump. We offer our prayers on behalf of his position and the members of his cabinet. Draw him into a strong relationship with You.

Thank You for this one who has pledged his life in service to our country. Give him a true servant spirit, one who is a person after Your own heart. Anoint him with Your Holy Spirit’s power, that he might feel your strength in every situation.

Let integrity and honesty guide every decision as He first looks to You for divine help. Turn his heart from distractions and temptations that could bring harm rather than help to his life, his family, and to the people he serves.

Make him a leader in every respect, morally and spiritually strong. Enlighten His mind with discernment, wisdom, and fairness.

When others tempt him to embrace arrogant power rather than humble service, give him an undivided heart. Help him to stand firm, knowing that You will fight his battles with him.

May He begin His day with You and Your Word, with gratitude and praise for the honor You have given to him.

Throughout the day may Your Spirit remind him of his purpose and of Your love for him. And when the night arrives, calm his heart with the peace that passes all understanding as he purposes to keep trusting and obeying You, no matter what the cost.

As You surround him with godly counselors, give him accountability to them and the people he serves, but first and foremost to You. Bless him with joy when righteousness and goodness prevail. But give him a heart that weeps for the injustices and sorrows around him.

Guard our President against unfair criticism and unfounded accusations. When he stumbles, give him the courage to admit his mistakes.

Strengthen his character, guard him against hurtful compromise, and give him a listening ear for the people he serves.

In danger, surround him and our country with Your host of angelic protection.

From the time he begins in office until his time is complete, may he serve You and our country as a true leader with an undying love, an unswerving faith, and an unending hope in the only One who can make our country great. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

The responsibilities, origin of each position, and impact of the President’s advisory body.

The U.S. Cabinet serves as and advisory body to the President of the United States. One of the most crucial components of the executive branch of the federal government. Their role is assisting the president in implementing policies, providing guidance on matters related to their respective departments, and managing national and international affairs.

They help implement the president's policies and oversee the operations of federal agencies.

PRAY FIRST for the members of the U.S. Cabinet and government leaders and for God would grant them wisdom, discernment, and integrity as they make decisions that impact our nation and the world.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
Proverbs 9:10

Praying for Cabinet Members and Government Officials

Scripture: Proverbs 11:14 Where there is no counsel, the people fall;
But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

- Pray for godly wisdom for each official overseeing national policies.
- Ask God to protect them from burnout and discouragement.
- Pray for moral integrity in their leadership.
- Ask for their families to be strengthened as they serve the nation.

Prayer For The United States Leaders

Father God, I come before You with a heart burdened for the leaders of our nation. I lift them up to You, recognizing their immense responsibility in guiding and governing our country. Grant them Your wisdom, discernment, and clarity of thought as they make decisions that impact the lives of millions.

Lord, I pray for humility to fill the hearts of our leaders, that they may set aside personal agendas and seek the welfare of the people they serve. Give them a deep sense of integrity, honesty, and a genuine desire to pursue justice and righteousness.

Lord, I pray for unity among our leaders, that they may put aside partisan differences and work together for the greater good. Help them to listen with open hearts, to consider the voices of We The People and to find common ground that fosters progress and unity for the rights and freedoms that have been endowed to us from God.

Above all, Lord, I pray for the hearts of our leaders to be touched by Your love and grace. May they seek Your guidance and surrender to Your will, recognizing that true leadership comes from serving others selflessly. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Testimony Tuesday

Today I have only one testimony to share because it deserves some attention and focus on the subject of perseverance.

Webster’s Dictionary describes Perseverance:
Continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition : the action or condition or an instance of Persevering.

I’m sure most of you have had to persevere or struggle through something personal. Perhaps, you’ve been hit with what seems like one thing after another right now or in the past.

Maybe you’re wondering if you even made a mistake. You have doubts about the decisions, or the direction because everything just seems hard. This was not what you expected. “This was not in the brochure” as the sarcastic saying goes.

This testimony reminds me that the Lord rarely allows things to come so easily for us. When we find ourselves struggling, whether it be financially, i.e., through a medical or family crisis, a business failure or just plain difficulty, we may ask ourselves, “Why is this happening to me?”

The Lord will sometimes allow hardship in our lives so He alone can break, restore and rebuild us. It is His way of refining us. We see a many of examples throughout the Bible with Moses, Joseph, David, to name a few.

God wants to remove the things that stand in the way of our growth. He wants our complete dependence on Him. He clears all the dead things, the distractions first before He reveals His plan. He is waiting for us to be fully surrendered and invite Him to begin moving in our lives.

Once we surrender we take a more steadfast approach to our situation because it teaches us some important lessons about dealing with hard times. We stop reasoning, and start trusting. We become humbled along the way as God directs our footsteps on His path. He sees there is something better on the horizon for us. Our part is to persevere and lean into and trust Him alone.

Here are some truths I gleaned from Brent’s testimony:

•Trust in God’s provision: We begin to trust in God’s promise to look after us. Instead of focusing on the crisis.
•Stay committed to God’s plan: We commit and submit to God, because we know His way is always better rather than choosing a quick fix, even in tough times.
•Rely on God’s guidance: We wait on God’s guidance and timing and move in faith as He leads, rather than doing it our way.
•Find strength in community: God will use friends and community to bring restoration. Be open, be humble, and most of all be grateful.

As the owner Brent says; “…it’s the bitter winter that creates the sweetness of the apple.”

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7

Praying for the politicians who litter government can be challenging, because these days, we don’t agree with them –let alone like them.

If you’re of the belief that Jesus is coming back (like tomorrow or next week or in 10 years or whatever) so why bother; or if you’re of the belief that it all needs to be burned to the ground so why bother… We need to pray because we have been tasked to do so.

“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44)

“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
(1 Timothy 2:1-4)

We pray because we desperately need Him.

“When the righteous increase, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people groan.” (Proverbs 29:2)

“May He defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor!” (Psalm 72:4)

“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)

If you love God then you pray as a form of worship –showing Him that you trust His sovereignty over governance.

“For the LORD is our judge; the LORD is our lawgiver; the LORD is our King; He will save us.” (Isaiah 33:22)

“That’s great and all that, but still eww. I hate the government!”

Imagine how Israel felt after they were taken into captivity by Babylon! They were instructed to pray:

“But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the LORD on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

When you understand the context around Jeremiah’s message, God is telling the Israelites that He will bless their enemies for Israel’s sake. He wanted Israel to understand that praying for peace and prosperity for their enemies means peace and prosperity for them as well.

We are sojourners here on earth, but tasked with a purpose. We have a heavenly responsibility to seek peace and justice in the cities and towns we live in through intercession.

We pray for leaders’ hearts to align with God’s.

“Give Your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern Your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this Your great people?” (1 Kings 3:9)

Pray specifically: For leaders’ wisdom and integrity.

Be consistent: Set aside time daily or weekly to pray for local, state, and federal governments.

Join others: Praying collectively can have an amplifying impact.

Pray with trust: Be confident God hears and answers.

Leaders need our prayers!

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)

Prayer underpins humility and gratefulness and wisdom to be God-granted.

“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it wherever He will.” (Proverbs 21:1)

Dear Heavenly Father – It’s unpleasant for us to think about the wickedness that prevails in our government. It’s tempting to walk away. It’s tempting to ask You to destroy it all!

But, we know that You want us to pray for the salvation of those hostile to You and Your ways. Holy Spirit, we ask that You provide us the fortitude and diligence to pray for our governing body.

Father God, we plainly need You. In every capacity. Your children long to see justice prevail. Our hearts cry out for the broken and lost. We witness horrors that shake us to the core. We seek You to end the depravity, the darkness, and the devilry.

How high must the evil deeds reach before it is brought down? Those who love You are hurting tremendously. We are disheartened and impatient, and we need You to provide us strength so that we may endure waiting for Your intervention.

Right now, Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask for radical changes of hearts in those in governmental positions. We ask for You to remove those who are children of the father of lies; and we ask that You place those with fear, reverence, and love for You in leadership positions.

We ask for lies and corruption to be exposed to Your refining Light. We ask for Your peace and prosperity to prevail.

For those leaders who humble themselves before You, we ask for You to grant them Your wisdom, discerning truth from untruth. Help them remember the worth of each individual they work for, keeping their hearts humble and thoughtful.

We pray for our governing bodies to be resilient against temptation to stray and cause harm.

We believe and expect You to move on behalf of those who love You and are calling out to You to intervene. We know that our Creator, the One Who breathed our galaxy into existence, is concerned with every aspect of our lives so You hear us, You see us, You know us, You love us. You are with us.

Thank You for the changes that are about to happen –the heavenly intervention to protect and help Your children. Thank You for establishing Your purposes within the hearts of leadership in our local, state, and federal governing bodies.

We pray to You in the precious name of Jesus.
