What is the difference between MTG orbit and the MetOp orbit?

Both missions provide weather and climate data but they do it from two very different point of views: MTG-I1 and MTG-S1 (which launched last week) fly in a geostationary orbit while the MetOp satellites (the next one is MetOp-SG-A1 launching later this summer) fly in a polar orbit.

MetOp, in low Earth orbit, offers detailed global and regional data, while MTG, in geostationary orbit, provides frequent, real-time observations of the same area.

July 13: A trough of low pressure near the southeastern U.S. coast is expected move westward across Florida during the next day or so, and into the northeastern Gulf by Tuesday. Once it moves into the Gulf, there is a low chance of development (20%🟡) towards the middle to late part of this week.
Regardless of development, heavy rainfall could produce localized flash flooding over portions of Florida and the north-central Gulf coast through the mid to late portion of this week. Visit https://t.co/zJDnFUKPfU for the latest on the rainfall potential in your area.
