📜 Last week, IUCN and UNCCD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation leading up to UNCCD #COP17. At the IUCN Forest and Grasslands Team, we are proud to have worked alongside the UNCCD secretariat to develop this MoU and enhance collaboration between IUCN and the UNCCD to support #rangelands, #drylands, and #grasslands, as well as the people who depend on these ecosystems.

🌐IUCN and the @UNCCD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the lead-up to and beyond UNCCD #COP17.

🌻Signed at #UNEA7, the MoU highlights the shared commitment of both organisations to accelerate action on land degradation, restoration of terrestrial ecosystems and drought, support Parties in achieving LDN, and advance NbS as central to sustainable development.

NASA satellite data could make bridges safer worldwide! 🌉

A new study found that satellite data, like from the @NASA-@isro NISAR satellite, could help look out for structural changes as small as a few millimeters that can make bridges potentially unsafe. https://t.co/fLXvQV9v7D

RT @WorldResources: Our recent post on the most climate-friendly behaviors generated a lot of discussion. Many felt a key point from our research was lost so we want to underline our main finding: the most important step an individual can take is to push for larger system changes like voting for leaders that support climate action.

Our research found that 90% of what can be achieved through shifting behaviors requires our policy and business leaders to make those choices available and affordable.

RT @UNDPasiapac: In Nepal’s Himalayas, glacial lakes are growing fast, and communities are living with the fear of sudden floods.

With support from UNDP and partners, the water level at Imja Lake was lowered and early warning systems were installed to keep people safe.

In the hills and plains, restoring local water sources is bringing farming back to life.
