Ethiopia's Digital ID Proclamation got approved by a majority vote.

The chairman of the Standing Committee on Law and Justice, Mrs. Esgenet Mengestu, who proposed the resolution, said, "It is important to establish a comprehensive, consistent, and reliable digital ID system to register the residents of the country and to keep the information of the registrants so that the use of the digital ID system has a legal basis."

Adding that, that it creates favorable conditions for establishing a system of transparency and accountability in the services provided using the ID and for a streamlined service delivery system.
