There is an increasing abandonment of traditional public schools for private, parochial, or home schooling. Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC) numbers confirm the decline.

The current administration will not accept responsibility for the failed policies that have resulted in this decline. It was under the leadership of the former school board member, Mike Duckworth, that allowed for the implementation of “Common Core” or the intentional dumbing down of the students during Obama’s Presidency. Shockingly, Duckworth, is running again to continue the agenda.

It’s about complying with Federal guidelines in exchange for the money. Our community must demand leadership that will reject Federal intervention and the promoted “equity”. This agenda is lowering the standard to the lowest common denominator and discouraging students to excel in their field of interest.

The President of the EVSC has requested the resignation of board member Amy Word. The perpetual encouragement for her resignation, by the community, receives support by the Board President.

We have an opportunity to replace 5 of the 7 Board members at one time.

God is in control. It’s been a long time at EVSC that an opportunity presents itself to have a “Conservative” Board. Remember this at the ballot box; do not re-elect the incumbents or previous board members.

Parents need to make sure that they are the ones that are taking control of their children's education and upbringing.

TO: School Board Trustee Amy Word

On Saturday, July 30th, you were one of several people who were placed under arrest following a lengthy investigation led by the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force (EVCDTF). According to detectives, you were placed under arrest for maintaining a common nuisance because you were aware of drug distribution taking place in and around your place of business, Lamasco Bar and Grill, and failed to report activities to law enforcement*. Later that day, EVSC Board of Trustees President released a statement after speaking with fellow board members, stating that it is in the best interest for EVSC that you resign. During the afternoon on August 1, you released a statement in an effort to provide clarity to the situation, however, you did not announce your resignation from the EVSC School Board as requested by your fellow board members. In response, a broad coalition of Evansville residents and parents are demanding your immediate resignation due to several ethical violations you have committed in your role as an EVSC Board Member. As personal stakeholders of the EVSC, we collectively believe that all school board members should honor the high levels of responsibility that are demanded of them and we believe in steadfastly upholding the ethical standards that are assumed with your membership. Since you have failed to uphold numerous ethical standards, your immediate resignation is now warranted and necessary.

According to EVSC Bylaws & Policies, a School Board member should maintain desirable relations with his/her staff by respecting the opinion of others and by graciously conforming to the principle of "majority rule". EVSC Board of School Trustees President Chris Kiefer made it clear that he and your fellow board members believe it is EVSC’s best interest for you to resign. However, when you released your statement without responding to or acknowledging your colleagues consensus, you violated this ethical standard.

In addition, EVSC Bylaws & Policies dictate a School Board member should meet his/her responsibilities to his/her community by winning the community's confidence that all is being done in the best interests of schoolchildren. You, School Board Trustee Amy Word, have betrayed the trust of Evansville residents and parents by demonstrating complacency surrounding detrimental activities that occur in and around your place of business in the Evansville community. By failing to report illegal activities that occurred over a lengthy period of time, you encouraged and tacitly endorsed the actions of drug traffickers who contribute to the destruction of our community here in Evansville. The organized distribution of illicit drugs, including some that are laced with Fentanyl, is a terrible offense against the rights of every community member who seek to live in a safe, supportive, and flourishing environment. Because of this breach of trust, many Evansville residents and parents have lost confidence in your ability to make decisions that serve the best interest of the schoolchildren.

The basic and fundamental responsibilities of our School Board members are to represent the will of the people—to uphold the highest standards for Evansville school-age children and parents and to do so with honesty and integrity. Your numerous ethical violations over the past several days makes you unworthy and undeserving of the honor of representing Evansville residents and parents in the EVSC Board of Trustees. You violated ethical standards which are critical to uphold in a position making decisions that affect Evansville children—therefore we the people demand your immediate resignation alongside your colleagues.

“Prior to 2019, EPD Detective Knight assisted on an overdose case that led to information that an employee of Lamasco was possibly involved and frequently sold Heroin, Marijuana, Cocaine, and pills at both Sportsman’s Grille & Billiards and Lamasco Bar and Grill on Franklin Street.”

“After compiling numerous tips from WeTip, the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Drug Task Force (hereinafter known as ‘EVCDTF’) also received information from credible and reliable confidential sources between 2019-2022 that named employees of both Lamasco and Sportsman’s. It was apparent that those employees of Lamasco and Sportsman’s were all associated with the distribution of several different types of controlled substances.”
“In March 2022, the EVCDTF were able to seize around 19 grams of a white powdery substance that field tested positive for Cocaine and Fentanyl. That evidence was seized from one of the (Lamasco) employees, Jourdan Dabbs, and confirmed through credible and reliable sources that the Cocaine/Fentanyl came from Demario Holman.”

“In April 2022, the EVCDTF developed confidential sources that stated the employees of Lamasco and Sportsman’s know about the drug use in the bathrooms, areas where cameras do not reach, and parking lots and routinely sell drugs, primarily Cocaine, to patrons who use themselves, after the bars close.”

“Since Jourdan Dabb’s arrest, another employee and frequent patron of Lamasco and Sportsman’s Matthew McClarney, has picked up business in Dabb’s absense.”

“One of those confidential sources stated he knew there to be a “bathroom business” inside of Lamasco Bar, where patrons and employees would distribute and use controlled substances; mainly Cocaine, Marijuana, and pills.”

“This confidential source stated Jourdan Dabbs was an employee and was heavily involved in the drug distribution and that Amy Word, the owner of Lamasco Bar, was also involved and using drugs inside of the bar.”

“It became apparent those employees of Lamasco Bar were all associated with the distribution of several different types of controlled substances.”

“Detective Knight observed Ms. Word being escorted by two other male employees exiting the employee door on the east side of the building and walk around to enter the rear door on the north side. One of those male employees exited the rear door shortly after and met with Demario Holman (main drug dealer being investigated) for a short time and walked back into the rear door of Lamasco Bar.”

“While listening to a jail phone call between Jourdan Dabbs and Amy Word (phone number: 812-480-0323), Dabbs mentions he knew about a safe and told Ms. Word to get rid of whatever is in the safe. Ms. Word becomes angry and starts yelling and swearing and made the statement that the only thing in the safe was her money and someone’s ‘dope’”.

“All (5 confidential informants [C.I.’s]) stated it was common knowledge that illegal drugs were used and sold on Franklin Street, more specifically Lamasco Bar.”

“Those 5 C.I.’s stated there was a bathroom located inside of the bar that was commonly used for quick deals and the using of controlled substances (mainly Cocaine).”

“A C.I. Also stated they were invited to a party at Amy Word’s residence along with the main sources of Cocaine distribution. They stated when they arrived at Ms. Word’s residence, Ms. Word, Demario Holman, and Ferdinand Wilson were already inside and using Cocaine.”

“The C.I.’s all stated that Ms. Word knows about the distribution and the use of controlled substances within the bar and parking lot and also partakes in those activities on a regular basis. Some C.I.’s provided information that they used to sell certain amounts of Cocaine to Ms. Word and stated her drug habit has worsened, causing disturbances inside the bar. The C.I.’s stated Ms. Word has increasingly become short tempered, aggressive, and careless, causing many employees to save the photographs and videos that showed her erratic behavior and using Cocaine in case she turned her anger on them.”

“One of the videos mentioned is said, by two C.I.

’s, to show Ms. Word with her face in a pile of Cocaine in the upstairs apartment of Lamasco Bar.”

“Some of the C.I.’s stated that Ms. Word would have someone take around $250-$280 out of the bar’s petty cash fund to purchase a ‘ball’ (3.5 grams) of Cocaine from Demario Holman which would be distributed among the employees and whoever stayed after the bar closed. They stated this happened on multiple occasions.”
“The same C.I.’s mentioned the violence and shootings on the lot of the bar that included the main source of the Cocaine distribution, one of which was sentenced to Indiana DOC in reference to a shooting at Lamasco Bar.”

“Two of the C.I.’s stated that another shooting took place in the back parking lot prior to law enforcement’s arrival, the shooter and the main drug dealer, Demario Holman, was hidden inside the bar by employees of Lamasco Bar.”

“The EVCDTF developed information that most of the communication between Ms. Word and Mr. Holman happens in person or via an encrypted phone application. The EVCDTF received subscriber information on both Amy Word and Demario Holman’s phone numbers. Their phone tolls showed the pair made contact via telephone at least twice during March of 2022.”

“The EVCDTF also have seized a large sum of U.S. Currency, over a half of a pound of Cocaine that also tested positive for Fentanyl, stemming from the investigation at Lamasco Bar involving it’s patrons and employees.”

“The majority of the activity was located at Lamasco and Detectives Knight, King, and Watson observed dealing and using controlled substances in the parking lot and inside of Lamasco. This occurred nearly every day of the week, including occasions when Ms. Word was present.”

“Amy Word and Zachary Clark left Lamasco in Amy Word’s vehicle which had expired license plate that expired in December 2021. Officers could smell the odor consistent with Marijuana in the vehicle and learned it was coming from a black bag inside the backseat. Zachary Clark gave the combination to open the bag and said there would be Marijuana inside. Officers located some U.S. Currency, several small baggies, a baggie containing a green leafy substance, and a baggie containing a white powdery substance. Zachary Clark stated he forgot about the Cocaine. Ms. Word stated to Officer Riedford that she knew the cooks at Lamasco were always ‘high’ while working.”
