Bergstrom Files Bill To Create A Pathway to Zero Income Tax:

OKLAHOMA CITY- On Wednesday, Sen. Micheal Bergstrom, R-Adair, filed Senate Bill 1228, a measure that would outline a pathway to eliminate the Oklahoma state income tax. This significant proposal aims to alleviate the burden on hardworking Oklahomans and spur economic growth by fostering job creation within small businesses.

"Personal income tax punishes work, hindering both individuals and businesses from reaching their full potential.” Bergstrom said. “Senate Bill 1228 charts a course toward the gradual elimination of the state income tax, all while implementing safeguards to ensure that essential revenue for public services remains intact."

The proposed legislation recognizes the critical role small businesses play in job creation and economic development. As most small business profits are taxed as personal income, reducing the state income tax is expected to empower these businesses to expand and generate more employment opportunities.

The proposed pathway to eliminate the state income tax is designed to be methodical and cautious, safeguarding against unintended consequences while aiming for a more business-friendly environment.

SB 1228 can be considered when the legislative session begins on February 5, 2024.

The BRICS Alliance chose to expand its bloc in August 2023, inviting multiple new members including Egypt, Iran, and others. However, one nation that was rumored to have an interest in joining BRICS was Mexico, which has since shut down any BRICS involvement.

Before the August Summit, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lope Obrador spoke about rumors of Mexico applying to join BRICS. Specifically, the president said, “We are not going to participate in this bloc, in this association.”

Since President Obrador made this statement, Mexico has done little to change its stance on joining BRICS. Instead, Mexico chooses to continue strengthening ties with other trade countries, including the United States and Canada. While BRICS has objectives to dump the US Dollar and usher in a new global currency, Mexico does not appear interested in collaborating on this de-dollarization project. Entering 2024, it is unlikely that Mexico will join BRICS.

Idaho House Bill 154 would make it a misdemeanor offense for anyone who provides or administers a vaccine using mRNA technology “for use in an individual or any other mammal in this state.”

Arizona House Bill 2762 requires conspicuous labeling of all aquatic, livestock, or poultry products that received mRNA vaccines, and prohibits these products from being labeled as organic.

Tennessee House Bill 0099 amends an existing law to prohibit the manufacture or sale of livestock or meat that contains mRNA “vaccine of vaccines materials” without a conspicuous label that there are such ingredients in the product.

North Dakota, state lawmakers filed SB2384, which seeks to ban the use of mRNA vaccines in humans and to introduce a penalty for anyone breaking the prohibition.

Missouri State Rep. Holly Jones, a Republican, is the lead sponsor of a bill requiring product labeling of all livestock meat containing “potential gene therapy products.
