“Controversial higher education bill gets final stamp of approval, heads to Gov. Holcomb”
The higher education bill that has been condemned by faculty from Indiana’s top public universities received final approval from the Senate Thursday and now heads to Gov. Eric Holcomb.
A central part of Senate Bill 202, authored by Sen. Spencer Deery, R-West Lafayette, requires universities and their boards of trustees to establish policies where faculty members may not receive tenure or promotions if that staff member has not encouraged "free expression" and intellectual diversity," or teaches students political views unrelated to their discipline.
Colbert Comment: There is zero controversy regarding a bill that requires “academia” to not restrict freedom of speech. There was unprecedented opposition by those “teaching” in these “higher learning” indoctrination camps. This is a score for free speech and conservatism. Well done 👍 Indiana!

1) Why is taxpayer money being used to advertise for Kindergarten? EVSC is desperate for students to participate in the indoctrination and compliance of their GAIN, SEL, DEI programs to secure funding. ( FOLLOW THE 💰)
2) Why are “whites” not being represented in the solicitation? EVSC Administrators are being hypocrites by not being inclusive as they virtue signal to meet “Federal mandates”.
3) Do parent(s) have other options for their child’s education? Yes, the Indiana State law allows for parents to use the “voucher system” to redirect taxpayer money to private or parochial schools. It is no longer income based to participate. Another new charter school at the former SEARS building on Green River Road is coming and in direct competition with the failing EVSC.
4) Is the EVSC public system failing? The data collected by the State of Indiana confirms basic markers of reading and math are dismal and not adequately preparing the children. EVSC is focused on protecting the Gender Identity Club at Reitz High School over preparing the students for success.

INDIANA Senator Braun sponsors Senate bill 1800 to ban cross breeding of animals and humans.
In a laboratory, the first human-pig chimera was created in 2017, while the first human-monkey chimera was announced in April 2021. These aren’t like the chimeras of ancient myth — no “human head with a lion body” creatures. Instead, they take forms such as the mouse with 4 percent human cells, which in 2020 became the highest percentage of human cells ever successfully inserted into an animal.
In response to these developments, the nonprofit International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) issued new guidelines on the subject in May 2021, essentially giving the greenlight. Although the guidelines are non-binding, they are highly influential in the scientific community and heavily followed.
The guidelines did include some limitations. For example, any experiment “should proceed for the minimum time necessary to achieve the scientific aim” and experiments should “limit chimerism to a particular organ system or region” of the animal.
Some find this an exciting innovative new frontier in science, noting the potential advances in public health — for example, a pig could potentially grow a human heart. Others believe this emerging science is ethically and morally dangerous or wrong.
What the legislation does

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down an injunction on Indiana’s gender-affirming care ban for Hoosiers younger than 18. The law now takes effect immediately.
However, the decision Tuesday does not stop the underlying case, which was granted class action certification in January. A bench trial is tentatively set for April 2025.
A lower court judge had previously blocked parts of the state’s law, SEA 480. It bans medicinal and surgical gender-affirming care for transgender youth in Indiana and prevents providers from “aiding and abetting” parents seeking that treatment outside of the state.
Gender-affirming care is health care that encompasses mental, social, medicinal and surgical care designed to treat gender dysphoria. And gender dysphoria is a clinically significant distress experienced by people whose gender assigned at birth and gender identity don’t match — though not all transgender people experience gender dysphoria.
In response to the order, the ACLU of Indiana — which represents transgender youth, their parents and gender-affirming care providers in the lawsuit — called it “beyond disappointing.”
The injunction had halted the law’s ban on medicinal care and limitations on provider referrals.
But, with the law in effect, transgender youth no longer have access to puberty blockers. The law originally built in a six-month window for those on hormone replacement therapies – also known as HRT. The cut-off in the law for those therapies was Dec. 31, 2023.

A controversial bill that would hold back some students who fail the state’s reading proficiency exam is nearing the governor’s desk.
Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle praised Senate Bill 1’s provisions to test and screen students earlier and prioritize reading during summer school.
But Democrats like Rep. Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne) criticized the bill for not allocating additional money for the summer programs and failing to address how larger class sizes in third grade might affect school staffing needs.
“I just can’t stomach the idea of saddling our schools with an unfunded summer school mandate, holding kids back without their parent’s input and the teacher workload problems that will result from this,” he said.
Last year around 96 percent of students who did not pass IREAD-3, the state reading assessment, advanced to fourth grade, according to state data. Nearly 1 in 5 Indiana third graders failed the reading test last year.
Proposals to push mandatory retention back by a year were defeated in both chambers.
