– Governor Eric J. Holcomb will lead an international economic development trip to Brazil and Mexico next week to cultivate innovation and growth of the agbioscience and agricultural economy. This marks the Governor’s second international economic development trip of 2024 and his first official visits to both Brazil and Mexico.
“Indiana agriculture and agbiosciences continues to be a catalyst for economic and community growth, contributing $58.1 billion annually to the state’s economy,” said Gov. Holcomb. “Brazil and Mexico both represent opportunities to collaborate and mutually advance trade, innovation and investment across the sector, spurring developments across food safety, security and sustainability that are critical to the global economy of the future.”
The governor will also work to advance industry partnerships, trade and investment across the agbiosciences sector, meeting with business prospects and Brazil-based companies with Indiana operations, including São Paulo-based Solinftec. The digital agriculture company announced plans in 2018 to establish its U.S. headquarters in West Lafayette, creating 334 new jobs. The delegation will also pitch Indiana as a global sector leader to entrepreneurs, startups and industry executives at two business roundtables hosted by the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (FIESP), the largest Brazilian industry association, and in partnership with Bayer, a global corporation focused on life sciences, health care and agriculture with operations in Granger, Indiana.

The crossover push is part of a media campaign by ReCenter Indiana, a bipartisan group that seeks to move state politics “closer to the center” and “bring more civility to political discussions,” according to its website.
Signs are already visible in Evansville and Merrillville.
ReCenter Indiana’s political action committee will additionally sponsor video advertisements on Instagram and Facebook, emphasizing that Hoosiers — Democrat, Republican or otherwise — can “directly influence” who will be elected governor by taking a Republican ballot in the primary and “voting for a more moderate gubernatorial candidate.”
It’s premeditated to have Democrats vote 🗳️ in the Republican primary. The State of Indiana is an “open” primary and allows Democrats to cross over party lines or visa versa. This “policy” has been weaponized to undermine races.

INDIANAPOLIS - (April 10, 2024) – Secretary of State Diego Morales is proud to announce the passing of priority election legislation to protect election workers and increase voter integrity.
The Secretary of State’s Office worked with the Clerks’ Association to expand the definition of election worker and provide legal protections for the important and challenging work local election officials, staff, election administrators, and poll workers do. Senate Enrolled Act 170, which became effective on passage in April, provides election workers peace of mind knowing laws are in place providing legal protections they deserve.
Senate Enrolled Act 170 makes it a criminal offense (Level 6 felony) to:
Threaten an election worker.
Obstruct, interfere with, or injure an election worker.
House Enrolled Act 1264:
Provides tools for maintaining accurate and up-to-date voter registration lists.
Requires proof of citizenship for individuals registering with temporary IDs.
Requires documentation of residency for first-time voters.
Eliminates loopholes for political groups private funding of local election administration.
Secretary Morales believed the ease at which non-citizens could register to vote and vote was a serious concern needing to be addressed. House Enrolled Act 1264 addresses that issue. Its passage gives Hoosier county clerks and voter registration boards, tools to confirm citizenship status and addresses on a new voter registration.
“After hearing concerns from election officials across the state, we are finding effective ways to improve the safety and security of our elections without limiting citizen access to elections. As Indiana’s Chief Election Officer, the accuracy of voter registration lists plays an essential role in fair and trusted elections. I want every eligible Hoosier registered and voting in elections. The key word is eligible,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State.

It seeks to shore up the world's defences against new pathogens following the COVID-19 pandemic that has killed nearly 7 million people.

The WHO already has binding rules known as the International Health Regulations, which in 2005 set out countries' obligations where public health events have the potential to cross borders. These include advising the WHO immediately of a health emergency and measures on trade and travel.
Adopted after the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak, these regulations are still considered appropriate for regional epidemics, such as Ebola but inadequate for a global pandemic. These regulations are also being reviewed in the wake of COVID-19.
For the new more wide-reaching pandemic accord, member states have agreed that it should be legally binding for those who sign up, overcoming early reservations from the United States.
