I did read one recent graphic novel, though, after it was recommended to me a few years ago.

THIS ONE.

Thor: GODBOMB is the graphic novel they bastardized to make the new MCU "Thor: Love And Thunder" film.

I didn't hate the film, it was nice seeing Jane Foster/Natalie Portman again.

But if you've read the graphic novel you have to be asking yourself...why'd they do that?

What makes the novel so great is the juxtaposition of a young Thor teamed up with his future old and grizzled older self as they try to stop Gor the God Killer from wiping out all of the gods in the universe.

And they just dumped all that out to go with a Thor-reunites-with-Jane plot where Gor is relegated to being a distant threat for 2/3rds of the film. And of course all the banter and interplay that young Thor has with his older self never appears in the film. They try to replace all that with a fat and ludicrous Russell Crowe playing Zeus.

Ever since the MCU completed that first massive story arc of 30 + films that ended with Avengers: Endgame the franchise is staggering around drunklike trying to find it's footing.

Black Widow had all kinds of problems. Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a flop. Didn't find Shang-Chi engaging at all. Morbius was an obvious misfire. And of course The Eternals was a massive bomb.

Only Spider-Man: No Way Home had any original ideas and actually managed to make the multiverse concept work to further the story.

On the small screen Moon Knight was just...weird. Off putting. Hawk-Eye had some energy at times but the writing tanked in some episodes, wasting the lead actress by turning her into a whiny brat.
