Mastercard wants to introduce payment with face or hand scan

"In Brazil, a pilot project called "Payface," which the company has been working on since 2018, begins this week in five supermarkets in São Paulo. Supermarket customers located there will be able to register their face and payment information via the Payface app and pay after logging in. Further pilot projects are planned in the Middle East and Asia.

The pilot includes "standards that banks, retailers and technology providers must adhere to" to ensure security and privacy, according to the company. In the identity verification process behind it, the password is replaced by the person. Mastercard is working with the EMV 3-D security standard for this, which is designed to increase security when shopping with biometric payment cards, devices and wearables. When authenticating online shoppers using "Selfiepay" - the payment process with facial recognition - standards such as those for FIDO (Fast Identity Online) therefore apply.

The market for "contactless biometric technologies" is expected to grow to 17.84 billion euros by 2026, according to Mastercard. The payment system could then also be linked to "customer loyalty programs."

For its venture, Mastercard is working with partners such as NEC, Payface, Aurus, PaybyFace, PopID and Fujitsu Limited. Recently, it said, it has introduced innovations such as "Shop Anywhere," Enhanced Contactless (ECOS) and Cloud Point of Sale cashierless payment options, which will help process and store sales data online." -Heise

🔹Dr. Steven Basil Kistulentz, 55, of Safety Harbor, was arrested for intentional viewing & possession of child pornography charges.
🔹Per arrest affidavit: The sheriff’s office received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that said child pornography had been uploaded to a website several times by a user named ‘SIRRAWDON’ between April 19 & May 4, 2021. The user turned out to be Kistulentz.
🔹Kistulentz is the director of the university’s graduate program in creative writing & also an associate English professor. In 2019, he was appointed the City of Safety Harbor’s poet laureate.
🔹St. Leo University has placed Kistulentz on administrative leave & has suspended his access to the university.

🔹Peter Bolos, 44, was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison & ordered to pay over $24.6M in restitution & $2.5M in forfeiture.

🔹Per court docs & evidence: Bolos, Palso, & co-conspirators, deceived pharmacy benefit managers about at least 60,000 prenoscriptions between May 2015 & April 2018, deceiving them into authorizing false claims worth over $174 million that insurers paid to pharmacies controlled by the co-conspirators.
🔹The sentencing for the remaining defendants (all pled guilty prior to trial) are scheduled to occur later this week.
