Current Situation on the India-Pakistan Border as of May 7
Just over three hours ago, Indian military command announced the launch of Operation “Sindur”, during which nine precision strikes were carried out on several locations reportedly linked to terrorist activity, according to Indian sources.
As with the onset of any conflict, the situation is marked by widespread confusion and disinformation. Both sides accuse each other of targeting civilians, while social media is flooded with mixed—and in many cases, fake—content. The online narrative is evolving rapidly and taking on a highly negative tone.
So far, the most intense clashes have reportedly occurred near Poonch following the Indian Air Force’s strikes and Pakistan’s immediate military response. However, most of the available footage appears to show only the initial phases of the engagement. There are currently no signs of large-scale battles, despite some online claims suggesting otherwise.
Footage of downed aircraft remains inconclusive. Clearer images or verified videos are needed to assess what has actually happened. For now, political leaders in both India and Pakistan are reportedly focused on communicating with allies and managing the diplomatic fallout, rather than escalating the conflict further.
Notably, India’s strikes were anticipated, and Pakistan responded swiftly. Tensions are now at a notably high level.

Indian defense sources have confirmed that Pakistan used the Chinese-made PL-15E long-range air-to-air missile during recent hostilities. Debris from the missile was recovered in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, with images released by Indian media (see Photos 1 and 2).
The PL-15E, an export version of China’s advanced PL-15 missile, is known for its impressive range—up to 145 km—and Mach 5+ speeds. It features a dual-pulse solid rocket motor, AESA radar seeker, and mid-course datalink, making it one of the most advanced missiles in Pakistan’s arsenal.
The use of such technology marks a notable escalation, significantly enhancing Pakistan’s beyond-visual-range (BVR) combat capabilities and signaling deeper military cooperation with China.
