In a parliamentary briefing, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister confirmed that Chinese-made J-10C fighter jets were used to engage Indian Rafale aircraft, deploying advanced PL-15 air-to-air missiles during recent hostilities.
He added that the Chinese ambassador in Islamabad was formally briefed about the air engagements and the J-10’s reported success in downing Indian jets—underscoring the deepening military-technical cooperation between China and Pakistan.
This marks one of the first known combat uses of the J-10C + PL-15 combo against Western aircraft in a live conflict scenario.

New images have emerged from the Bathinda region of Punjab, where wreckage of an Indian Air Force Rafale, serial number BS-001, has been discovered.
Sources now confirm that the aircraft was shot down last night by the Pakistan Air Force, reportedly using a J-10C jet armed with a PL-15 missile — a significant development in the ongoing escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
This marks the first confirmed downing of a Rafale in combat, heightening concerns over air superiority in the region.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Ataullah Tarar stated that Pakistani defense forces shot down five Indian Air Force jets and one drone during the early hours of May 7.
• The first two aircraft were reportedly shot down at 2:45 AM.
• A third aircraft, confirmed to be a Rafale, was brought down around 3:45 AM.
• The final two jets were downed after 5:00 AM, according to Tarar.
A Pakistani military spokesperson told Reuters that the Indian jets were targeted in response to airstrikes carried out by India on Pakistani territory.
While India has not officially confirmed the losses, the New York Times reported that an Indian official acknowledged the downing of three aircraft.
