According to an official statement from the Indian Army, during the night of May 7–8, Pakistan Army posts initiated unprovoked fire across the Line of Control (LoC) using small arms and artillery.
The fire targeted areas opposite:
• Kupwara
• Baramulla
• Uri
• Akhnoor
— all located in Jammu & Kashmir.
The Indian Army responded proportionately, maintaining rules of engagement while countering the aggression.
This comes amid a broader spike in military activity between India and Pakistan, following air and drone incidents reported over the past 48 hours.

According to Goreunit, a complete artillery battery of the Pakistan Army was reportedly destroyed in the Poonch sector during the night of April 6 to 7 following a precision strike by the Indian Army.
• 6 artillery guns were destroyed
• 2 officers and multiple other ranks (ORs) were among those hit
• 13 Pakistani Army fatalities were reported in the area
In retaliation, Pakistani forces allegedly targeted an Indian post shortly after the strike.
This event, though unconfirmed by official defense ministries, fits into the pattern of escalating cross-border artillery and air activity along the LoC in Jammu & Kashmir.
