🇵🇰⚡️🇮🇳India Launches Airstrikes on Suspected Militant Sites in Pakistan Amid Rising Tensions

On May 7, 2025, India conducted airstrikes on nine locations in Pakistan, targeting what it described as “terrorist infrastructure” linked to groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). These strikes were in retaliation for an attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 people, mostly Hindu tourists, on April 22. Key targets included a seminary in Bahawalpur associated with JeM, resulting in 13 deaths, and a complex in Muridke linked to LeT, where three people were killed.

India’s operation, named “Operation Sindoor,” marks the most significant escalation between the nuclear-armed neighbors in over two decades. Pakistan reported that the Indian strikes resulted in 26 civilian deaths and 46 injuries, and claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets. Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, condemned the attacks and vowed retaliation, stating that India would “have to pay the price.”

The international community has expressed concern over the escalating conflict. U.S. President Donald Trump urged both nations to de-escalate tensions, offering assistance to mediate the situation.

🇫🇷🇫🇷⚡️On the evening of May 7, 2025, celebrations in Paris following Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) qualification for the Champions League final turned violent. A black sedan drove into a crowd of fans on the Champs-Élysées, injuring three individuals, one of whom is in critical condition.

According to reports, the driver attempted to flee the scene but was pursued by an angry crowd. The vehicle was eventually stopped and set on fire by the pursuers.

The incident occurred amid broader unrest in the city, with clashes between fans and police, vandalism, and the burning of vehicles and shops. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity or apprehension of the driver involved in the incident.

🇮🇳⚡️🇵🇰According to defense monitoring group Duorope, the drone involved in the recent incident at Lahore Airport closely resembles the IAI Harop loitering munition. The sound and strike pattern of the drone align with the characteristics of the Harop, a loitering munition developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). The Harop is designed to loiter above the battlefield and attack targets by crashing into them and exploding. It has a loiter time of 6 hours and a range of 200 km both ways. The Harop uses a man-in-the-loop mode, being controlled by a remote operator, and can select static or moving targets detected by the aircraft’s electro-optical sensor .

The IAI Harop has been used in various conflicts, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 2020, where it was credited with destroying a Syrian Air Defence SA-22 Greyhound on May 10, 2018 .
