🇮🇶🗣Iraqi Prime Minister told Reuters:

➡️The upcoming elections are a critical turning point, marking a shift from past instability to current security and reconstruction.

➡️Abstaining from the elections would empower corrupt actors and reinforce the quota-based political system.

➡️Iraq’s national interest comes first; no party will be allowed to drag the country into war, as decisions rest solely with the state.

➡️There is broad agreement among political forces to eliminate any weapons outside official state institutions.

➡️ Iraq maintains a balanced relationship with Washington, based on mutual interests, and will not be treated as a sphere of influence.

🇧🇷🇧🇷📝 — The Civil Police of the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) released the list of 115 out of the 117 civilian victims of Operation Containment. In total, 121 people were killed, including four police officers, making it the deadliest operation in Brazil’s history. The report reveals that more than 95% of those killed were linked to the Comando Vermelho (CV) criminal organization

🇧🇷 The operation also targeted criminals from other states. Sixty-two of the deceased were from outside Rio, predominantly from Pará and Bahia. Below is the breakdown of their origins:

🇧🇷 Pará – 19
🇧🇷 Bahia – 12
🇧🇷 Amazonas – 9
🇧🇷 Goiás – 9
🇧🇷 Ceará – 4
🇧🇷 Espírito Santo – 3
🇧🇷 Paraíba – 2
🇧🇷 Maranhão – 1
🇧🇷 Mato Grosso – 1
🇧🇷 São Paulo – 1
🇧🇷 Federal District – 1

🔍 The government highlighted that 97 of the victims had significant criminal histories, while 12 had publicly displayed their involvement in drug trafficking through social media posts. Additionally, 59 had outstanding arrest warrants, while 17 had no prior criminal records.

💬 The state’s Secretary of Public Security, Felipe Curi, emphasized that the deaths occurred because the suspects resisted arrest. “Had they not reacted, they would have been arrested in the act for the crimes they were committing, including possession of firearms and explosives, attempted murder against officers, and participation in a criminal organization,” he stated.
