Objective:
The goal of this course is to give an introduction to the field of machine learning. The course will teach you basic skills to decide which learning algorithm to use for what problem, code up your own learning algorithm and evaluate and debug it.

Abstract:
The field of machine learning is concerned with the question of how to construct computer programs that automatically improve with experience. Recently, many successful machine learning applications have been developed, ranging from data-mining programs that learn to detect fraudulent credit card transactions, to information-filtering systems that learn users' reading preferences, to autonomous vehicles that learn to drive. There have also been important advances in the theory and algorithms that form the foundation of this field. This course will provide a broad introduction to the field of machine learning.

Murray Gell-Mann 1929-2019. A prodigious intellect and an extraordinarily influential theoretical physicist. Strangeness, the renormalization group, V-A theory, SU(3) symmetry, quarks ... This and much more we owe to Murray. It's a sad day for the world of physics.

Farsi Twitter Project at CCNSD

The Twitter team in CCNSD studies Farsi Twitter and its trending topics. Twitter data, in our team, is used as an indicator of the social, cultural and political concerns and interests of Twitter users. We, however, assume that the impact of Twitter, and other social media, does not stop online, and the processes is part of a much larger sphere of influence on Farsi speaking countries and diasporic communities. Currently, we are working on two different projects (1) human-bot interaction in the formation of collective identities in Farsi Twitter and (2) a typology of fake news based on their propagation.
