The Conference on Complex Systems (CCS) is the biggest and most important annual meeting of the international complex systems community. It comes under the auspices of the Complex Systems Society. This edition, after successful events in Singapore , Thessaloniki (Greece) , Cancun (Mexico) and Amsterdam (Netherlands), will take place in the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, Spain, organized by IFISC (CSIC-UIB).

We are looking for an excellent PhD candidate to join a unique multidisciplinary project defined within the LDE (Leiden University, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University) Centre for BOLD (Big Open and Linked Data) Cities. The project ennoscriptd ‘Data-driven, urban policymaking for social inclusion of young, vulnerable people’ compiles a team of researchers from psychology, architecture, computer science and public administration with the goal of identifying factors contributing to an inclusive school setting.

Selection criteria
MSc in data science, artificial intelligence, computer science, or a related discipline;
strong programming skills;
Experience with machine learning and data mining algorithms;
The project particularly encourages applications from candidates with a demonstrated affinity to the application of computational methods and algorithms for solving issues in other domains such as public policy;

CSS-TSS fee waivers

The Complex Systems Society (CSS), in the framework of the Thematic School Support (TSS) Program 2020, grants two fee waivers to support the attendance of PhD students and Junior Post Doctoral researchers who are members of the CSS.

Prospective participants who are eligible for the TSS grant should accompany their application (see the form below) with an email to the Organizing Committee (Carlo Piccardi,
carlo.piccardi@polimi.it) requiring the fee waiver, providing evidence of their eligibility (academic status and CSS membership, holding at the application deadline, February 23, 2020) and motivations for their request. The acceptance will be notified together with the admission to the school (March 16, 2020).
