💰 Hey, I am hiring at UCNZ UCNZMaths
• 1 fully paid, 3 years, #PhD scholarship
• a bunch of Research Assistant positions

Us: Data Science analysis of Social Networks with a strong Social Justice focus (yes, we're SJW).
You: curious, willing to learn transdisciplinary.

Our research methodology is maths, data and code heavy: hashtag #complexnetworks #DeepLearning #julialang. We also dialogue a lot with other disciplines and take ethics seriously.

The PhD is your adventure: you don't need to know everything in advance; can mix and match.

Can you speak Python?

Are you familiar with the Python programming language, along with the basic packages for scientific computing (NumPy/SciPy/Matplotlib/Pandas)?

To test your knowledge of these basics (and point you to relevant documentation to fill in any gaps), Aalto Scientific Computing team has designed the Gizmo challenge.

Applied Data Science for Policy Research
Special Course in Complex Systems - 16.03.2021-28.05.2021

https://mycourses.aalto.fi/course/view.php?id=30748

Course Denoscription
This is an applied data science course where students will learn how to collaborate with domain experts. With the complexity of today’s policy issues as well as the increasing availability of rich but messy data, there is demand for researchers who are skilled in data science and quantitative approaches to studying complex systems. Cross-domain communication is key to successful collaboration, but it is a difficult and often missed part of data science training. In this course, students will take a hands-on approach to learning these skills by working as data scientists on policy research teams. We will specifically be working with social science and policy researchers studying climate governance, but the skills learned should be broadly applicable to research scenarios in the public, academic, and private sectors. The domain experts will be social science students from the University of Helsinki enrolled in a companion course on climate governance.
