📜 در هفته‌های پایانی سال ۱۳۹۹ کارگاه سه‌جلسه‌ای با عنوان فوق به همت انجمن علمی فیزیک دانشگاه صنعتی اصفهان به صورت آنلاین برگزار شد. موضوعات مطرح شده در این کارگاه شامل

It took a year for public-health guidance to converge on the fact that COVID-19 mostly spreads through the air and rarely through contaminated surfaces. The confusion was spawned in part by just one number: 5 micrometres. That’s the size that — according to outdated guidance — separates aerosols, which linger in the air, and droplets, which fall onto surfaces. Another problem: the divide between engineers and physicists, who study aerosols, and physicians, who worry about pathogens. As the pandemic raged, a small group of scientists fought to trace the poorly documented origins of the 5-micrometre fallacy, overcome the chasm between disciplines and change our understanding of how respiratory diseases spread.

📜 برای توقف یا کاهش سرعت شیوع یک بیماری، راهبردهای مختلفی وجود دارد. اگرچه واکسن موثرترین شیوه‌ی حفاظتی است اما در غیاب واکسن یا در مواقعی که منابع آن محدود یا هزینه‌ی بالایی دارد شیوه‌های خود مراقبتی (مثل ماسک زدن) مهم‌ترین حربه است. بنابراین چگونگی رفتار افراد نقش مهمی در نحوه‌ی شیوع بیماری خواهد داشت که باید در مدل‌ها لحاظ شود.

در برخی مدل‌های ارائه شده، چگونگی پاسخ افراد به سوالِ "آیا زیر بار هزینه‌های حفاظتی (مثلا خرید و تعویض مکرر ماسک) بروم یا نه؟" به صورت یک بازی و در قالب نظریه‌ی بازی‌ها به مدلها اضافه می‌شوند.

در این مقاله، افراد با حساب کردن مقدار سود یا زیانِ پذیرش یا عدم پذیرش حفاظت، به طور مکرر تصمیم خود را با شرایط موجود تطبیق داده و در روند شیوع بیماری تغییراتی ایجاد می‌کنند. این تغییر در تصمیم، گاه ممکن است به ایجاد یک روند نوسانی پایدار در میزان کسر افراد مبتلا به بیماری شود.
