📜 برای توقف یا کاهش سرعت شیوع یک بیماری، راهبردهای مختلفی وجود دارد. اگرچه واکسن موثرترین شیوه‌ی حفاظتی است اما در غیاب واکسن یا در مواقعی که منابع آن محدود یا هزینه‌ی بالایی دارد شیوه‌های خود مراقبتی (مثل ماسک زدن) مهم‌ترین حربه است. بنابراین چگونگی رفتار افراد نقش مهمی در نحوه‌ی شیوع بیماری خواهد داشت که باید در مدل‌ها لحاظ شود.

در برخی مدل‌های ارائه شده، چگونگی پاسخ افراد به سوالِ "آیا زیر بار هزینه‌های حفاظتی (مثلا خرید و تعویض مکرر ماسک) بروم یا نه؟" به صورت یک بازی و در قالب نظریه‌ی بازی‌ها به مدلها اضافه می‌شوند.

در این مقاله، افراد با حساب کردن مقدار سود یا زیانِ پذیرش یا عدم پذیرش حفاظت، به طور مکرر تصمیم خود را با شرایط موجود تطبیق داده و در روند شیوع بیماری تغییراتی ایجاد می‌کنند. این تغییر در تصمیم، گاه ممکن است به ایجاد یک روند نوسانی پایدار در میزان کسر افراد مبتلا به بیماری شود.

«روش‌های مونت کارلو روش‌های تقریبی هستند که برای #شبیه‌سازی کامپیوتری سیستم‌های آماری به کار می‌روند. در مکانیک آماری برای به‌دست آوردن پارامترهای بزرگ‌مقیاس باید آن پارامتر بر روی تمام ریز حالت‌های ممکن متوسط‌گیری شود. این کار برای سیستم‌های با ابعاد بزرگ به دلیل زیادی ریز حالت‌ها، در شبیه‌سازی کامپیوتری عملاً غیرقابل انجام است.
این روش یکی از مهمترین پیشرفت‌های صورت گرفته در بررسی سیستم‌های آماری است و فیزیکدانان از اهمیت آن کاملا آگاه هستند. در نتیجه دانستن آن برای دانشجویان فیزیک کاملاً ضروری است.»

PhD student position in Learning and Decision Making for Autonomous Driving, Aalto University

We seek for excellent PhD student candidates to help us study learning, decision making and control in autonomous driving. Potential research topics include embedding prescribed rules in learned policies, handling anomalous situations and learning predictive multi-agent models.

Requirements


A candidate should have a M.Sc. or equivalent degree in a suitable area (e.g. robotics, computer science, automation, applied math, control engineering), or be a M.Sc. student in a final phase of their studies. The candidate should have strong analytical and writing skills, and experience or genuine interest in robotics. Expertise in machine learning is valued. Candidates are expected to also have good programming and mathematical skills as well as be fluent in spoken and written English.

The appointment is available immediately but the timing is negotiable. The position is fixed-term. The length of PhD studies in Finland is 4 years. The salary is determined according to the salary system of Aalto University. Employment includes occupational health care and social security benefits.
