Leviticus 26 serves as a powerful warning of the consequences of idolatry, disobedience, and turning from God
Though Leviticus was written by Moses to the children of Israel, it remains a stark reminder of the importance of obedience, faithfulness, and the destructive power of sin
The explicit consequences of disobedience towards the Lord include famine, wars, disease, desolation, and societal breakdown
Abandoning the Lord leads to a destructive spiral of consequences for an entire nation
Much of the chaos we see in America today is a direct result of continued disobedience towards God: idolatry (worship of man and state) and glorification of sin
However, 2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land”
Forgiveness can still be sought
But if wickedness continues to abound, righteous judgement will ensue
