A System Pig is someone who:
1. Knowingly Supports the Status Quo
They defend or maintain an existing system (political, corporate, bureaucratic, etc.) despite being aware of its flaws or abuses.
2. Reaps Personal Benefits
Their motivation is often personal gain—whether monetary, social acceptance, career advancement, or ideological comfort. They consciously choose to align with the system because doing so provides them a tangible advantage or perceived status boost.
3. Facilitates Propaganda or Power Structures
They actively promote the narrative, rules, and structures that uphold the system. This can range from overt propaganda to tacitly enabling exploitative practices by refusing to challenge the status quo.
4. Overlooks or Rationalizes Harm Done to Others
Although they might acknowledge the system’s shortcomings, they typically justify them or minimize their impact. The moral trade-offs are overshadowed by their personal stakes in the system’s continuity.
5. Aids a Minority at the Expense of the Majority
Often, the system benefits a select group—political elites, corporate interests, or bureaucratic hierarchies—while imposing costs (financial, social, or ethical) on the broader population. The “System Pig” not only benefits from this disparity but may also be instrumental in perpetuating it.
