In 1st Chronicles and 2 Samuel, we are told of the “lion-like men of Moab,” who were slain by one of David’s warriors, Benaiah

The transliteration of the Hebrew word for “lionlike” is 'arîy'êl or 'ari'êl, which when broken down is 'ariy (lion) and êl (god/deity)

“Lion-god” or “Lion-deity”

Human hybrids

Some suggest this may be a reference to killing two lions; but the very next sentence states that Benaiah, the killer of the ariels, then killed a lion. The Hebrew word for “lion” here is not ariel, but aryeh

Ancient mythology also supports the concept of “lionlike” hybrid beings; in Egypt the lion-god was called “Maahes” and in Assyria he was called “Urmahlullu”

So, what if the ariels were hybrid creatures reminiscent of Genesis 6? What if they were elite hybrid beings with that only David’s own Mighty Men could slay by the power of God?

It’s possible, as the passages prior detail David’s Mighty Thirty supernaturally slaying Nephillim giants and entire armies
