Microneedle Patch Make a Record as it Delivers Vaccine
A microneedle patch that delivers a quantum tattoo at the same time as a vaccination could help track vaccinated patients to save medication and time.
The team at MIT developed the ‘tattooing’ patch to make it easier to create and access a person’s vaccination record, particularly in developing countries. The system relies on a dye containing tiny quantum dots of semiconducting crystal that reflect specific wavelengths of light to mark different vaccines. The pattern is not visible to the naked eye, but a specially designed smartphone can be used to scan the skin and identify which vaccines have been administered.
According to MIT professor Robert Langer, “It’s possible someday that this ‘invisible’ approach could create new possibilities for data storage, biosensing, and vaccine applications that could improve how medical care is provided, particularly in the developing world.”

A team of researchers from the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology have developed a very efficient, highly-porous, sturdy mat to contain damage caused by oil spills. After the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster, it was crucial to developed methods to control the damage done by oil spills.
Furthermore, 0.04 oz of this new material has a 6100 square feet surface area, and has a water-repellent to help with adsorption, which separates the oil from water as a thin film. The team discovered that 0.04 oz of the new mat can adsorb 0.88 oz of oil. Additionally, this new material is reusable.

A team of students from Harvard have developed a device that helps people with reduced sight navigate.
This device is a vest, that uses computer vision technology, and soft robotics connected to the wearer's smartphone camera. The camera spots the position of objects, and the information is transferred to the vest, that inflates to notify the wearer.
The inflation of the vest corresponds to the distance between the user and the detected object. Additionally, it can calculate how fast the object is moving. This is achieved with a computer vision algorithm.

New 3D-printed plastic cubes, developed by a team of scientists of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, could be the used in the next generation of lightweight, explosive-proof armor.
These cubes are printed with fractal voids in them, resulting in better dissipation of shock waves than already available materials. They were tested with an impactor fired at 670 miles per hour. The advantage of this material over others is that the shock wave upon impact can be controlled.
Although the result are very encouraging, the researchers are still open to other options for the design of this material. If successful, this new material could be used in structures, vehicles, and human protection.

اهداف توسعه پایدار
بررسی شاخصهای اصلی تعریف شده در سازمان ملل متحد برای سنجش توسعه پایدار.
✅ پایان دادن به فقر
در برنامهی توسعهی پایدار، فقر را بر اساس دو معیار میسنجند:
🔺 یک معیار سهلگیرانه: چند درصد از مردم یک کشور، درآمد روزانهای کمتر از یک دلار و نود سنت (۱٫۹۰$) دارند؟
🔺 یک معیار سختگیرانه: چند درصد از مردم کشور، درآمد روزانهی کمتر از سه دلار و بیست سنت (۳٫۲۰$) دارند؟
✅ دسترسی به آموزش با کیفیت
🔺 درصد افرادی که سواد خواندن و نوشتن دارند و نیز درصد کسانی که در دبستان ثبتنام کرده و تحصیل در مدرسه را به پایان رساندهاند تحت عنوان یک شاخص با عنوان (Quality Education) مورد توجه قرار میگیرند.
✅ صنعت، نوآوری و زیرساختها
🔺تعداد مقالههای منتشر شده در کشور (به ازاء هر هزار نفر جمعیت) از جمله شاخصهای دیگری است که به عنوان معیاری از نوآوری و قدرت صنعتی در نظر گرفته شده است.
🔺گاهی اوقات افکار ساده، قدرت تغییر دنیا را دارند.
