Mojo Vision AR Lens

Hailed as the world’s first, the smart contact lens from Mojo Vision features a built-in display that provides timely information without interrupting eye contact.

Still in the prototype phase, the Mojo Lens is embedded in a hard scleral lens and features a 14,000 ppi display along with an image sensor, radio and motion sensor that will be included in the final version. A wearable unit holds the battery for the lens as well as the computing components, though the team is working towards a smartphone-based solution. The company believes the first application for the lens could be for users with low vision, who can take advantage of the lens’s real-time edge detection that highlights shapes in dim light.

خودآگاهی یا Self-awareness

دنیل گلمن برای خودآگاهی سه مولفه تعریف می‌کند:

✅ خودآگاهی هیجانی: به این معناست که بتوانیم احساسات و هیجانات خود را به درستی تشخیص داده و تحلیل کنیم.

✅ توانایی خود ارزیابی دقیق: به این معناست که بتوانیم توانمندی‌ها، نقاط قوت و منابع درونی در دسترس خود را بشناسیم و از سوی دیگر، ضعف‌ها و محدودیت‌های خود را نیز بپذیریم و درک کنیم.

✅ اعتماد به نفس: اعتماد به نفس یا Self-Confidence به این معناست که یک نفر به توان و توانمندی‌های خودش باور و اعتماد داشته باشد و یا اینکه اعتماد به نفس یعنی این‌که انسان خودش را عمیقاً ارزشمند و توانمند بداند.

SIMPA Prosthetic Designed for Toddlers

The prototype SIMPA 3D-printed prosthetic arm for toddlers offers the first affordable and simple option for young children.

The SIMPA (Soft-Grasp Infant Myoelectric Prosthetic Arm) created by the team from the University of London relies on an armband worn on the stump that detects and translates the electrical signals generated by the muscles. Those signals are then used to control the device’s two-fingered gripper. The SIMPA was also designed to be easy to use, and can be attuned to the young wearer through a series of simple games.

هدف از استفاده از چک لیست این است که مطمئن شویم هیچ‌یک از جزئیات یک فعالیت، فراموش نشده و به شکل استاندارد و با ترتیب درست و منطقی، انجام شده است.

Self-Healing Polymer Generates Electricity from Body Heat

A self-healing composite film able to generate electricity from body heat could open the door to a new generation of wearable technologies.

To function as a wearable, a material must be flexible, strong and sturdy enough to be worn comfortably without damaging easily. A prototype material from the team at KAUST was created to help fill this need, and is made up of three carefully chosen compounds that can be combined to form a stretchy, self-healing, thermoelectric material that can survive the day-to-day movements of the wearer. According to the researchers, a key to the material was the addition of the sticky gel Triton X-100, which encourages the hydrogen bonding needed for the stretchy and self-healing properties to work.

Teslasuit Glove Lets Wearers Feel Textures

The new Teslasuit Glove lets users feel their virtual world while it tracks their pulse and other biometric data.

Developed with an eye toward professional applications such as rehabilitation and training—rather than gaming—the Teslasuit Glove is integrated with haptics, motion capture, biometry and force feedback to allow the wearer to feel virtual textures. Because the glove can track the wearer’s biometric data, including pulse, emotional state and stress level, it could be particularly useful in monitoring rehabilitation exercises and effectiveness.

Radio-frequency Identification

همان‌طور که از ظاهرِ این اصطلاح مشخص است، RFID یک تکنولوژی برای شناخت و تشخیص اشیاء، انسان و حیوان با استفاده از امواج رادیویی است.

در سیستم RFID سه المان اصلی وجود دارد:
✅ تگ (Tag)
✅ آنتن (Antenna)
✅ دستگاه خواندن تگ یا Interrogator

تگ یا برچسب، یک میکروچیپ است که اطلاعات مورد نظر در آن ذخیره شده می‌شود در مرحله بعد میکروچیپ باید به یک آنتن وصل شود تا بتواند امواج رادیویی را راحت‌تر دریافت و ارسال کند.

سومین المان در تکنولوژی RFID، دستگاهی است که می‌تواند کدهای RFID را بخواند. دستگاهی که معمولاً آن را RFID-Reader یا Interrogator می‌نامند.

Artificial Self-Assembled Blood Vessels

Researchers in London have come up with a smart material made out of graphene oxide and a protein, that naturally forms into tubular shapes as it is 3D printed.

According to Nottingham, the mechanism of assembly enables the flexible, or disordered, regions of the protein to order and conform to the graphene oxide, generating a strong interaction between them. By controlling the way in which the two components are mixed, it is possible to guide their assembly at multiple size scales in the presence of cells and into complex robust structures.

معنای پایداری

پایدار به معنای ادامه‌دار بودن یک سبک یا روش است.
ساده‌ترین معنای پایدار، این است که در میان‌ مدت و بلند مدت هم، بتوان یک سبک یا روش را ادامه داد؛ یا از یک ابزار استفاده کرد.

کسب و کار پایدار، قرار نیست فقط یک ماه یا یک سال دوام داشته باشد و می‌تواند سال‌ها ادامه پیدا کند.

ارزش آفرینی پایدار، به این معناست که ارزش خلق‌شده توسط ما (یا کسب و کار ما) کارایی کوتاه‌ مدت ندارد و در میان‌ مدت و بلند مدت هم، هم‌چنان ارزشمند است.

وقتی می‌گوییم این روش، به رشد پایدار ما کمک می‌کند، یعنی نه فقط در کوتاه‌ مدت، بلکه در میان‌ مدت و بلند مدت هم می‌تواند بستر و فضای رشد ما را فراهم کند.

Artificial Photosynthesis Promises Renewable Energy

Scientists are closing in on the goal of generating large sources of completely renewable energy using the surplus CO2 in our atmosphere.

They have successfully developed an artificial photosynthesis system made of nanosized tubes that appears to be able to deliver on this promise.

The individual units created will be small square "solar fuel tiles" that mimic actual living photosynthetic cells.

Although obstacles to scalability still exist the researchers are confident the technology is ultimately doable.

باید به خاطر داشته باشیم که Design (طراحی) با Decision (تصمیم) تفاوت دارد.

وقتی از تصمیم گیری حرف می‌زنیم، چند گزینه پیش روی ماست که باید یکی را انتخاب کنیم.

اگر بعد از تصمیم گیری متوجه شویم که گزینه‌ی مناسب را انتخاب نکرده‌ایم، در آن تصمیم، شکست خورده‌ایم.

اما ذاتِ فرایند طراحی، خلق گزینه‌ها، آزمودن آن‌ها و تکرار دوباره بر اساس بازخوردها است.

بنابراین طراح، یک گزینه را انتخاب نمی‌کند؛ بلکه در یک مسیر رفت و برگشتی به تدریج، پاسخ مناسب را خلق می‌کند.

Harvesting Sunlight Underwater

Researchers have discovered that solar cells based on wide-band-gap semiconductors work better underwater than the narrow-band-gap ones used in conventional solar panels.

This discovery could mean that underwater vehicles could operate for much longer periods of time without having to rely on batteries, connections to shore-based grid power or derived from solar cells above water.

The composition of the underwater solar cells would be different, but their general design would be much the same. They would obviously have to be waterproof.
