I will share my opinion about this
First of all, to help you understand, whales are able to do anything they want. Why?
First they are owning huge amount of money, now you will think few millions. Not, they are owming billions and billions. When I say it is small group, I mean small compared to whole crypto market but they have from 10 up to 10k members ( I think it is mostly like 100-1000)). They are also in contact with CEOs of big media sources like Cointelegraph, Coindesk ( I am not saying they are firends, but they could pay them a lot of money and they will post everything they want, I don't have to be friend but we could work to achieve goals). I did read this somewhere, this si directly from my mind. Everything is so good timed so it must be planned!
Let's be realistic, would you buy BTC at 10k $ today? For 1 years yes but I wouldnever buy BTC at this price. Why? I am not saying that BTC wont reach let's say 100k in year or two but I think this BTC that we can see today is unable to do that. Why? If I want to send my friend let's say $10 I must pay at least $1fee. Coinbase fee is much higher. I know my friend who want to send $3 and fee was $11. I do not know if that is true but let's be honest and admit that this very bad for Bitcoin.
Whole mission of BTC is to become at least payment method in everyday life. Current BTC is not able to do that. So, I think, once these forsk stop comming, BTC will face with HUGEEE correction. I am not saying BCH will become BTC but I think new Bitcoin should be born to help cryptocurrencies to spread the world and become part of everyday life.
If you do not know, ETH is fork of ETC. Before fork, ETC was ETH but it is changed and ETH became ETC or Ethereum classic and new ETH is born. So it is not impossible.
I am not crazy to hold BTC now because there are ALTs with potential gain of 10X. With BTC my potential gain is 2 max 3X but also I could be in huge loss if BTC starts long term downtrend.
So, everything is possible and I think whales will try something like this because they will make easier 10X with BCH than with BTC.

So don't be blind, everything is possible and nothing is 100% guaranteed.
P.S. I support current BTC but I do not support huge fees and transaction speed and I will never support. I do not want to pay few $ fee when I can pay few cents. I used to support BTC but more and more I am thinking to change my opinion. I am not saying I will support BCH but I can't support current BTC.
