Gazprom halts gas transit to Germany via Yamal pipeline - European prices soar
Deliveries of natural gas to Germany through the Yamal-Europe pipeline have been completely halted, data from Russia’s transport operator revealed Tuesday.
State-owned giant Gazprom, the system’s operator, had booked no capacity at all for transiting natural gas on Tuesday, a few days after demand reached its winter peak.
Meanwhile European gas prices jumped to a record high, with futures surging as much as 11% and temperatures plummeting across the continent. (Bloomberg)
