UBS claimed Monday it had completed the $1.6 trillion takeover of scandal-ridden Credit Suisse in the biggest banking industry deal since the 2008 global financial crisis.

UBS will assume control of around $5 trillion in assets, and already plans cuts from a new combined 120,000 worldwide workforce.

European Central Bank To Lift Rates To 20-Year High — Analysts

Analysts expect the ECB to raise interest rates by 25 basis points to their highest levels since 2001 on Thursday despite the bloc slipping into recession.
