🚀 Cursor X Addis Hackathon Update!

We’ve officially sent acceptance emails to all selected participants. 📩
Please check your inbox (and spam folder just in case!) and read the instructions carefully.

💡 To everyone who registered: THANK YOU!

Due to overwhelming interest, we had to apply a first-come, first-served policy and only considered complete applications; meaning you registered for both forms and also added your GitHub links. Selections also took into account skill level, gender, and educational background to ensure a diverse and inclusive participant pool.

If you didn’t get selected this time, we genuinely appreciate the time and effort you put into applying. We are planning a larger edition in the future and look forward to building with even more of you next time!

This Saturday marked a major milestone for the Cursor community as we hosted the first Cursor Hackathon in Africa, right here in Addis Ababa.

The event brought together 115 participants, forming 23 teams from over 50 institutions — including universities and professionals from across the country. With less than 5 hours to build and pitch their ideas, the teams delivered impressive solutions using Cursor, highlighting just how powerful the platform is for fast, collaborative software development.

A total of $1,000 in Cursor credit was awarded to the top two teams. Congratulations to the winners for their outstanding work.

We’re grateful to ALX Ethiopia for partnering with us and providing an excellent venue, and to Habesha Brewery for sponsoring the energizing Nigus Malt.
