Moments ago the United States House approved the ban of TikTok. The vote will now go to the United States Senate for approval. President Joe Biden has stated if it passes the Senate he will authorize it.
The ban is for ... national security, or children safety, or something
tl;dr chinese app bad, ban anything we don't like under the 'guise of children or national security. This sets a terrible precedent

I honestly hope tiktok makes some updates to their app to make it extremely hard to ban. I predict the US would ban it by telling app stores to remove tiktok from download, then setting up a DNS sinkhole so the tiktok domain doesn't resolve. Personally, I'd create a list of rotating IPs that serve content and use that instead of DNS, maybe make the app a wrapper for the website itself so updates to the site don't break the app itself
I don't even use tiktok, just fucking tired of the government fucking with things for no good reason. I want to see some pushback, and sadly a Chinese company seems best poised to do it
