❗️UPDATE: The front end of CoinMarketCap has officially been compromised by hackers, and a wallet drainer pop-up is now live on the site.

The scale of this scam could be massive — it looks completely legit, with no obvious red flags. You’re just visiting a site you check daily, and that’s what makes it so dangerous.

‼️UPDATE (1): Someone has already fallen for the drainer (what an idiot). They reported that while browsing, a pop-up asked them to connect their wallet, followed by approval requests for ERC-20 tokens.

Stay far away from CoinMarketCap for now — this is a live attack.

⚠️UPDATE (2): The attack has been linked to Inferno Drainer, a well-known wallet-draining group.

They're running a highly convincing front-end exploit — stay off CoinMarketCap and avoid connecting your wallet to anything suspicious.

‼️UPDATE: Phantom, the Solana crypto wallet, has officially blocked users from accessing CoinMarketCap in an effort to protect them from getting drained.

It’s been almost 13 hours since the drainer was injected, and it’s still live. We’re not sure when it’ll be taken down — but we’ll likely see how much was made from the attack over the next day or so.

Surprisingly, there are almost no victims on Twitter complaining about being phished, which is unusual for an attack of this scale. While this had the potential to be one of the biggest drains we’ve seen, the immediate warnings may have saved a lot of people just in time.
