Stop manipulating language to blur the meaning of "MAGA Republicans." The term has an unambiguous referent: people who support Donald Trump.

Biden employed a rhetorical tactic straight from the authoritarian playbook, expanding and contracting definitions as needed. Hitler did this constantly, shifting the term "foreigner" to mean everything from criminal invader to citizen of the wrong ethnicity. It's a classic move of autocrats: redefine the enemy to fit the moment, to reach a desired end goal.

In that same vein, Biden used the phrase "insurrection as patriotism" to smear all MAGA Republicans. That is not an existing ideology. His own framing proves it... he included Donald Trump himself in that category, even though Trump has publicly called January 6 "a heinous attack."

If Biden had intended to target only those who engaged in insurrection, he would have said so. He didn't, because his goal was to conflate populism with extremism.

The Journal of Democracy analyses published by the National Endowment for Democracy confirm as much. Their stated intent was to suppress populism.

The great "threat to democracy" it now obsesses over isn't Moscow or Beijing, it's populism at home.

Arson warrants capital punishment.

No other single act of malice has the potential to uproot the lives of dozens or even thousands. With one act, an arsonist can make families homeless, destroy communities, kill pets, and snuff out human lives. The devastation affects not only direct victims but also ecosystems and economies.

People who know me personally know I have been trumpeting this for years. Wildfire arson, in particular, is a crime I feel demands far greater attention and accountability. The data is clear: a significant number of wildfires are man-made. Yet arson is treated with penalties grossly disproportionate to the damage it inflicts.

In many ways, arson is the ultimate crime. It is an act of cowardice that often results in widespread destruction and death, all while the perpetrator watches from safety. Such an offense cannot be met mere incarceration. It demands a response as severe as the crime itself.

Capital punishment for arsonists.

Yes, I'm starting to learn that there's a quick way to figure out who's the bad guys in those countries. Just trace Alliance for Global Justice activity across Latin America countries. In Cuba; they're aligned with the regime. In Venezuela, they're aligned with Maduro. In Colombia, they're aligned with FARC revolutionaries.

An underrated aspect of the peace deal is that, if it succeeds, it removes much of the underlying justification for protest anger.
