Now that chatbots have the ability to search the internet and reason we need a "stop overthinking and just answer" button.
I've analyzed Terence's post here, as well as his past reactions to AI math advancements. First, let's give some important context.
Terence has generally been bullish on AI and math, across numerous interviews and other data points, he has called this stuff "game changing" in the past. Meaning he's not a tech skeptic or luddite about it. I feel like this speaks to his character and attitude.
Now, when you examine his criticisms in this thread (many of which were invalidated by Boris' response) what generally remains are two core criticisms:
1. The test was not properly proctored or validated by an IMO jury (entirely legitimate, process-based protest, but does not address the substance of the achievement)
2. The AI is not a human brain and is therefore "not analogous" i.e. doesn't have the same constraints as a 3 pound cholesterol-based computer (which oddly misses the point of AI)
All of his other primary critiques were invalidated by Boris.
