❔What are cluster munitions? Cluster munitions, also called cluster bombs, are containers that contain tens to hundreds of smaller bombs, also known as submunitions. The containers can be dropped from airplanes, launched from rockets, or fired from artillery, rocket launchers, etc. The containers are opened at a predetermined height, depending on the area of the intended target, and the bombs inside are distributed over that area. They are timed to explode close to the ground or on the ground, scattering fragments designed to destroy personnel or armored vehicles.

🏎 These armored personnel carriers were produced in the 1960s and 1970s and purchased for the internal troops. An interesting point is that they have never been used for their intended purpose, and some of them, according to preliminary data, may be technically defective.

🇺🇸With this transfer of armored vehicles, Bulgarian politicians expect to receive new military equipment from the United States as a replacement. This potential step could be part of a broader context of military cooperation between the two countries.
