Litany of the Miraculous Infant of Prague*

Infant Jesus, true God and Lord,
Have mercy on us. [This response continues for each line below.]
Infant Jesus, Whose omnipotence is manifested in a wonderful manner,
Infant Jesus, Whose wisdom searches our hearts and reigns,
Infant Jesus, Whose goodness continually inclines to aid us,
Infant Jesus, Whose providence leads us to our last end and destiny,
Infant Jesus, Whose truth enlightens the darkness of our hearts,
Infant Jesus, Whose generosity enriches our poverty,
Infant Jesus, Whose friendship consoles the afflicted,
Infant Jesus, Whose mercy forgives our sins,
Infant Jesus, Whose power turns away all evils,
Infant Jesus, Whose justice deters us from sin,
Infant Jesus, Whose power conquers hell,
Infant Jesus, Whose lovely countenance attracts our hearts,
Infant Jesus, Whose greatness holds the universe in Its hand,
Infant Jesus, Whose love-inflamed Heart kindles our cold hearts,
Infant Jesus, Whose miraculous hand raised in benediction fills us with all blessings,
Infant Jesus, Whose sweet and holy Name rejoices the hearts of the Faithful,
Have mercy on us.

Infant Jesus, Whose glory fills the whole world,
Have mercy on us.
Be merciful.
Spare us, O Jesus.
Be merciful.
Graciously hear us, O Jesus.

From all evil,
Deliver us, O Jesus. [This response continues for each line below.]
From all sin,
From all distrust of Thy infinite goodness,
From all doubts against Thy power of miracles,
From all lukewarmness in Thy veneration,
From trials and misfortunes,
Through the mysteries of Thy holy childhood,
Deliver us, O Jesus.

We sinners,
Beseech Thee, hear us.

Through the intercession of Mary, Thy Virgin Mother, and Joseph, Thy foster father,
We beseech Thee, hear us. [This response continues for each line below.]
That Thou wouldst pardon us,
That Thou wouldst bring us to true repentance,
That Thou wouldst preserve and increase in us love and devotion to Thy sacred infancy,
That Thou wouldst never withdraw Thy miraculous hand from us,
That Thou wouldst keep us mindful of Thy numberless benefits,
That Thou wouldst inflame us more and more with love for Thy Sacred Heart,
That Thou wouldst graciously deign to hear all who call upon Thee with confidence,
That Thou wouldst preserve our country in peace,
That Thou wouldst free us from all impending evils,
That Thou wouldst wouldst give eternal life to all who act generously toward Thee,
That Thou wouldst pronounce a merciful sentence on us at the judgment,
That Thou wouldst in Thy miraculous image remain our consoling refuge,
Jesus, Son of God and Mary,
We beseech Thee, hear us.

Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Spare us,O Jesus.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Graciously hear us, O Jesus.
Lamb of God, Who takest away the sins of the world,
Have mercy on us.
Jesus, hear us.
Jesus, graciously hear us.
Our Father (silently). And lead us not into temptation.
But deliver us from evil.

*Author unknown, probably a Discalced Carmelite and perhaps Father Cyrillus á Matre Dei himself, the first and most devoted venerator of the miraculous image of the Infant of Prague. (Fr. Cyrillus was born 1590, [and] died in [the] odor of sanctity at Prague 1675). The booklet from which this litany was copied bears the imprimatur of the Most Rev. The word Epiphany means manifestation. The Church in the Mass commemorates a triple manifestation of Christ: to the Magi, that is, to the Gentiles; in His Baptism, when the Voice from heaven declared: “This is My Beloved Son”; and in the miracle of changing water into wine at Cana.

EPIPHANY BLESSING

Hear us, O Lord, Father Almighty, Eternal God, and send Thy holy angel from heaven to watch over, cherish, protect, attend, and defend all who live in this dwelling. We call upon Thy saints, Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar, to protect our family and our home from every harm and danger, and we place their mark over our door to remain there as a constant reminder to us and to all who enter here that our home is truly a home dedicated to the Lord, Jesus Christ.

O God, make the door of our home a gateway to Thine eternal Kingdom. We ask these things in the Name of Jesus Christ, Thy Son. Amen

EPIPHANY BLESSING

Thus it is that the faithful bless their homes with the sign: 20 + C + M + B + 26 signifying both the names of the wise men and also “May Christ this Mansion Bless”.

According to Venerable Bede, Melchior gave gold, Gaspar frankincense, and Balthasar myrrh.

After saying this prayer, write the initials of the Magi (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar) and the year with blessed chalk over the main door of your home.

For this year,
20 + C + M + B + 26

6 - Morning Prayer

A MORNING PRAYER

ALMIGHTY God! Who, though dwelling in the highest heavens, yet vouchsafest to regard the lowest creature upon earth; I humbly adore thy sacred Majesty, and with all the force and powers of my soul, exalt and praise Thy holy name, for the infinite blessings Thou hast so freely bestowed upon me, for electing me in Thy love, and creating me to Thy own image; for redeeming me by thy Son, and sanctifying me with Thy Holy Spirit; for preserving me in all the troubles and encounters of this life, and raising up my thoughts to the hope of a better; and particularly for Thy gracious protection from the dangers of the past night, and for bringing me safely to the beginning of this day. Continue, O Lord, thy mercy to me; and, as Thou hast awakened my body from sleep, so raise my soul from sin, that I may walk soberly and chastely as in the day, in all holy obedience, before thy face.

(continued)

A MORNING PRAYER

Deliver me, O merciful God, from the evils of this day, and guide my feet in the ways of peace. Strengthen my resolutions to embrace with gladness all opportunities of doing good, and carefully to avoid all occasions of sin, especially those which I have found by experience to be most dangerous to my soul; and when, through frailty, I forget Thee, do Thou, in Thy mercy remember me; that as I often fall by the evil inclination of my nature, I may instantly rise again by the assistance of Thy grace. Make me diligent in the duties of my calling and state of life, and not too solicitous for the success of my affairs; but in all the miscarriages and crosses of this world, absolutely submit to Thy divine pleasure, and wholly rely on thy merciful providence. Let Thy blessing be upon my actions, and Thy grace direct my intentions; that the whole course of my life, and the principal design of my heart, may always tend to the advancement of Thy glory, the good of others, and the eternal salvation of my own soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord and only Saviour, who, with Thee and the Holy Ghost, liveth and reigneth one God, world without end. Amen.
