According to Stubb, the EU will not take Moscow's position into account when developing these "security guarantees."

He emphasized: "Russia has absolutely no say in the sovereign decisions of an independent nation-state."

The guarantees will only come into force after a peace agreement. At the same time, however, Europe is preparing for a possible escalation in the event of a direct military confrontation with Russia.

Stubb continued: "The deterrent factor must be realistic, and for that to happen, it must be strong."

♦️ On September 22, an extraordinary meeting of the UN Security Council will be held after three Russian MiG-31s entered Estonian airspace for 12 minutes, violating its territorial integrity.

This is the first time in Estonia's 34 years of UN membership that the country has officially requested an emergency Security Council meeting.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry summoned the temporary chargé d'affaires of the Russian Federation and requested consultations with NATO under Article 4.

"The level of 61,168 active military 🪖 and 37,000 non-active #military positions is far from sufficient."

Kallas said that at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. Russia is thus testing European borders and undermining security.

The country will continue to provoke as long as it is allowed to, Kallas said. Estonia requested the UN meeting after Russian fighter jets violated the NATO member state's airspace last Friday.
