North Korea may launch a spy satellite 'within a week or so': defense minister

North Korea may launch its military spy satellite as early as "within a week or so," South Korea's defense minister said Sunday, citing intelligence of the North's preparations.

Defense Minister Shin Won-sik said the launch could take place before South Korea launches its first indigenous reconnaissance satellite on Falcon 9, U.S. aerospace company SpaceX's two-stage rocket, from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Nov. 30.

The Japanese Marine Corps, as part of Exercise 05JX, used landing vehicles to complete the task of storming the beach on Tokunoshima Island, washed by the East China Sea. According to the scenario, the island was captured by PLA forces. The goal was to oust and destroy them. The exercise was carried out under the pretext of increasing tensions between Japan and China, Russia and North Korea.
