1849 - Edgar Allen Poe(top right) was murdered by a blow to the head. Poe was not a drunk or drug addict as history would lead you to believe and did not die from a drug overdose. Poe was exposing the Mason't through many of his short stories. It was inevitable that Poe would not only run afoul of the festering secret society's but end a victim of their 'arguments'. He was not a passive recipient, and he did his best to immortalize a searing indictment in Masonry in at least four of his short stories.

In April 1866, a year after the murder of Abraham Lincoln, Albert Pike's (top right) Supreme Council met in full costume inside the White House. Andrew Johnson granted a pardon to Pike for his role in the murder of Lincoln.

1866 - Nathan Bedford Forest (First Imperial Wizard) was approached by the leaders the Den of the Invisible Empire, which had possession of the secret archives of Samuel Adams and which organization still existed under the name of the Sons of Liberty.
