Ahoy, Captains 🐳

Starting from today we want to give you a more detailed insight into Tower Defish development process. We're going to give you a little dev blog to brighten up the expectation of the game release.

Captains with the Defish Ticket should get ready for closed alpha testing in the near future.

The game is ready for closed alpha, but we want to improve it so it will feel more as a final version of the game and won't give any unwanted surprises to the testers community.

Just to explain what's the main development priority is, it's the game optimization. The game files size is 1.5 Gb at the moment, but it will increase as we develop it further. Although we intend to make the game graphics look nice for the modern market, even the low-budget phones would be able to run it.

Animations and UI design are in the final stage of development for the moment.

After the closed alpha testing we will open the game for public beta test and will continue to improve it by gathering feedback

And, after the public beta, the final version release will follow.

We promised to make a big tournament in our roadmap for Q1 2023, and we suggest you prepare for it. Here are some things you should expect from it:

The tournament will consist of several tiers, so that all the Captains from newbies to whales can participate and enjoy the competition.

The tournament will have a prize pool for every tier and every participant will have a chance to win a hefty prize for themselves.

The time has come to announce new changes to the Harbor economy.

The balance of WOD that can be withdrawn from Harbor is going to be limited and this amount will be global, so it's not just your personal limit.

We are going to test this update in the following month, so be prepared that you might encounter a limit for WOD withdrawal at some time during the month.

We will inform you on the more specific details (like the WOD withdrawal pool balance and the update release date) in the close future.

After the big changes we will collect your feedback, as we do with every economic adjustment, so feel free to leave your opinion in the chat and after a month we will go through all the feedback and decide what to do next.

Ahoy, Captains 🐳

Economic changes just keep coming! We are happy to announce the craft changes adjustments, which were discussed by the community.

In this update we are going to reduce crafting WOD price and increase crafting material price.

New crafting WOD prices:
💎: 2 200 WOD
💎: 3 500 WOD
💎: 5 500 WOD
💎: 8 500 WOD
💎: 14 000 WOD
💎: 23 000 WOD

Crafting material cost will be increased by 20%.

The update is already available on Testnet and we need you to test it and share your feedback with us.

The pending craft recipes update will be delayed because of the update, but if we'll have the community's full support on this update, then it will be posted on Mainnet in a few days after the testing with the new craft recipes update.

Get these materials ready, Captains, and keep an eye on the news!

It's time we reveal new details on Tower Defish development!

We have changed the global map, so it will look much more like the levels and much more organic. Check the comments to see what changed and how it looks like now.

Along with the map redesign we are finalizing the sound implementation, but it is possible that some of it will be absent from alpha testing.

We are preparing a build for closed alpha, the testers will have access to all towers, spells, special towers and 1 of 4 heroes.

We are going to show the standart player progression for alpha testing, but at some point all of the towers and spells will unlock for all testers.

The alpha testing is coming soon, so all Defish Ticket holders should be prepared for the announcement.

We got a special delivery: more news about Tower Defish development!

Today we are going to talk about the Defish Games ecosystem and WOD token compatibility.

For now we do not plan on making ways to earn WOD in Tower Defish, but it will be possible to spend it, giving the WOD token more utility.

In Tower Defish you will be able to earn bonuses or promocodes applicable for World of Defish and vice versa.

Tower Defish's economy will progressively connect with the World of Defish economy. We are planning that on release of TD, your WoD Level will give you some advantages and open access to special exclusive content.

The game is preparing for the closed alpha and is now in stage of internal testing. In fact, we are doing some troubleshooting for various trivial issues, which are little, but still annoying. Getting rid of them will make the gaming experience much more immersive.

Partly because of that, the closed alpha will have a bit outdated graphics with limited shadows and lighting effects for the sake of game optimization.

As a conclusion, we are just a few devblogs away from the start of the closed alpha testing.

We suggest you to get ready for more news, that will be coming these few weeks and set a course to uncharted territories 🗺️

Here we are with some new details on Tower Defish development!

The next week is going to be massive! We are going to post all new information about the game with screenshots and gameplay videos.

The test build is up and running. All that is stopping the Defish Ticket owners from starting to play is the ongoing upload of the build to Google Play and its moderation.

The closed alpha will be available for Android devices at first, but we will release an iOS version soon enough. You might know that Apple's moderation policies are a lot stricter than Google's, so it will take some time.

The will be only one difficulty setting available for the testers — an "Easy" one, but we're sure you will be fully entertained with it.

The global map will be available for overview with 2 detailed continents. The rest of the locations on the map will be replaced by plugs and won't be playable for now, but you will be able to fly over all locations and check the full scale of the global map.

And, of course, we will create a system for bug reports and suggestions, so you could point us in the right direction and help get rid of the bugs or annoying problems during the gaming.

Defish Ticket owners, pepare to be the first to play Tower Defish in a very close future! Those who don't have a ticket — sit tight and stay sharp, there will be a lot of content for you too!

Defish Ticket holders - it’s your time to shine! In a few days we are going to contact you to give you the access to the closed alpha testing!

Today, to prepare all Captains to what is coming, we decided to explain one of the core game mechanics for you!

How do Towers in TD work:

Placing:
The tower can be placed anywhere on the map, but different types of towers have different placement rules. Some towers must be close to the river, while others are more effective when placed further away.

Obstacles like shores, rocks, and the river can block tower placement, but some of them can be removed using in-game currency.

To assist you in placing the tower correctly, you will see a grid showing available places for building.

Economics:
You can place as much towers as you like on the map, but there is an interesting detail — every next tower of the same type you already have will cost several percent more, which will protect the economics from spam and encourage you to use a more creative and diverse approach to towers, allowing you to use all 10 types in different setups.

Upgrade:
Each tower has three distinct statistics that can be upgraded individually. Upgrades not only enhance a tower's performance but also alter its appearance. As a result, may see towers that look very similar but have minor differences, indicating they are at various upgrade stages.

To be able to upgrade a tower, you need to have the required amount of EXP. Once the EXP cap is reached, a new level of upgrades becomes available for all three tower statistics. However, only two of the three stats can be upgraded at this point. This means that once two of the three available stats are upgraded, the third one becomes locked and cannot be upgraded further.

Upgrades are not permanent and they reset at the start of each new game level, which makes you decide how to move forward with the upgrades for every game level.

Tower Features:
Every tower type is unique and is made for a certain task. We will tell you more about every tower type in the future, but today we will reveal some major features:

1️⃣ Target Priority. You can set a priority target for each tower for it to attack a certain type of fish before all others. As an example, you can assign Inferno Tower to attack Tank fish first, and all other types of fish only if there is no Tank fish in the river.

2️⃣ Towers can be destroyed. There is one unique type of fish that can attack towers and destroy them, so be attentive when placing towers.

3️⃣ Apart from upgrading towers inside a game level, you can upgrade them permanently with Crystals. Every Crystal will give its unique bonus, e.g. boosting the tower’s attack range or damage. You can only use 2 Crystals for one tower, but the Crystals can also be upgraded.

Tomorrow we are going to add a timer, that will show the countdown to the next Harbor refill. This is going to help you remember to withdraw your WOD on time.

Also, now the Harbor would be refilled with much bigger amount of WOD, than the last month, which you might have noticed in the last several days. We will do our best to keep refilling the Harbor with enough WOD for everyone.

At the same time, we want to start a discussion within the community about making the personal withdrawal limits.

We have noticed the complaints that not everyone can withdraw their WOD in time, so we are thinking about making a personal limitation on WOD withdrawals.

We want to ask you, what limit would be appropriate for you and how do you feel about the personal limits for WOD withdrawal?

We promised to keep you updated on how things are going in Tower Defish and today we are going to start preparing you for the main enemy you’ll have to fight in the game.

The Fish 🐟

Fish is an essential element of the game, it is as important as are the towers. Fish in TD, just like in WoD, have 6 rarity types, from 💎 Common to 💎Artifact. Fish Rarity impacts the Essence reward you get for catching fish. We’ll talk about Essence later, but know that it’s one of the core resources of the game.

We have 16 types of Fish enemies you are going to encounter during your level defenses. We won’t tell you about all of them, just to not spoil the surprise, but there are few of them:

Tanky Fish: Fish that has armor and is resistant to certain types of Tower Damage.

Healer Fish: Fish that heals other fish in the river.

Cloning Fish: Fish that creates clones when getting to the river.

And so on. As we said in the previous devblog, there are also types of fish, that are capable of attacking and destroying your towers.

All of 16 fish types, except the basic one, have their unique ability, just like the 3 we reviewed. But they can also have 5 secondary abilities, like becoming invisible to certain types of towers or gaining evasion to attacks.

In other words, the combinations of the Fish Types and secondary abilities makes the level gameplay much more diverse, which will keep your interest in the game for long. Every level is going to look unique and you won’t ever have the two identical confrontations.

In addition to said earlier, you will be able to use Fish NFTs from World of Defish to get some valuable resources and in-game boosts for your encounters.

That is all we have for you for now, but we are going to make much more content about TD in the near future, and after the alpha testing we’re sure you are going to get a lot of feedback from testers. Follow the news, Captains, for the seas never sleep!
