David Allen Funston, 64, was found guilty in 1999 of 16 counts of kidnapping and child molestation. He kidnapped and molested at least 8 children - 7 girls and 1 boy - luring them with Barbie dolls and candy. He was later sentenced to 3 consecutive sentences of 25 years to life. But because of California's liberal elder parole board laws, he met the criteria for early release. Luckily, another DA decided to pursue charges in another sexual assault case from 1996. The DA said he wasn't going to pursue those charges beings he got 3 life sentences, but now that laws have changed, they want to keep the community save from him. Gavin Newsom claims his hands are tied in the case.
