Now fast forward almost three years and hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian men who had their whole lives ahead of them are now dead, and the outcome is probably going to be about the same as it would have been had that agreement from early on been made.

It reminds me of one college term I had, where my then girlfriend (now wife) was gone for a summer and I was renting a room out in the country that had no internet. With no distractions, I actually did all my homework and submitted my two term projects weeks early. My professors were shocked but I got As across the board, and also read 7 books in this time and converted my car from an automatic to manual, all while working full time. It's amazing how productive you can be with no distractions!
