A year ago today, Aaron Bushnell killed himself for no particular purpose whatsoever, other than to expiate his pathetic, absurd sense of white guilt. Within hours of setting himself on fire, "people of colour" on Twitter were calling him a "kaffir" and saying that he was burning in hell and his suicide was actually an expression of "white privilege."

Bushnell's utterly pointless gesture changed nothing. It should, at the very least, alert us to the insanity of allying yourself as a white person with people whose hatred of white people is so pathological they'll call you a privileged coloniser even while your corpse is still smouldering.
