Our story is far from unique in the self-directed learning community.

Our lil boy is 7.5 turning 8 soon.

He doesn't read yet, but he's pretty solid at math.

At age 5 and 6, he soaked up lots of math going to our local Farmers Market. It's an awesome weekday market. We'd go in the middle of the day, while other kids are in school.

The Farmers are amazing teachers! So kind, so patient. They loved teaching our boy addition, subtraction, multiplication, and more.

Plus with his own lemonade stand, fruit stand, and hot cocoa stand, cooking, baking, doing life... a lot of math happens naturally and joyfully in a 6yo's life!

One day, 2 weeks before his 7th birthday, we went onto Khan Academy and played in the math modules. We discovered that he already got 1st and 2nd grade and some of 3rd grade from living his 6-year-old life!

So as if playing a video game, we spent 2 weeks, 20mins a day and methodically went through every unit of 1st & 2nd grade before his 7yo birthday. It was a blast!

After that we'd hop on Khan Acadmy in fits and spurts. Sometimes go for months without doing any. Sometimes when inspiration arises, we'd blast through units back-to-back.

In fits and spurts like that, we did 3rd grade.

We discovered that our boy learns best at 6pm.

We discovered he sometimes needs to move his body, move the energy, jump up and down or hang upside down.

He rolls his eyeballs up.

He says he's grabbing answers from space.

This week, we're graduating 4th grade and moving onto 5th grade.

So it is, in a span of 11 months, we experience ourselves joyfully playing through all of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade math. About 30mins 1x or 2x/week. Mostly at 6 or 7pm when he says he learns best. Sometime sitting. Sometimes hanging upside down.

What a magical journey - surprising yet not surprising at the same time.

How many other kids out there would be learning more effectively if they could simply learn at their own perfect pace, at their best time of day? be allow to move, to sit, stand or hang upside down if needed?

We are blessed with this new generation of Luminous Kids. Here to help us break free from old paradigms. 🎶🏄👶

Thousands of people are in yoga classes right now intentionally sending light out from their heart and wrapping it around the earth.

Millions of children are assuming that everything is amazing and will always be that way.

Someone is in profound pain, and a few months from now, they'll be thriving like never before. From where they are, they just can't see it.

Someone who is craving to be partnered, to be acknowledged, will get precisely what they want — and even more. And because that gift will be so fantastical in its reach and sweetness, it will alter their memory of angsty longing and render it all "So worth the wait."

Someone has recently cracked open their joyous, genuine nature because they did the hard work of hauling years of oppression off of their psyche — this luminous juju is floating in the ether, and is accessible to you.

Someone just this second wished for world peace, in earnest.

Some civil servant is making sure that you get your mail, and your rubbish is picked up, that the trains are running on time, and that you are generally safe.

Someone is dedicating their days to protecting your civil liberties and clean drinking water.

Someone is regaining their sanity.

Someone is genuinely forgiving the seemingly unforgivable.

Someone is curing the incurable.

Someone is just now recovering from a near-death experience.
