The steps towards deoligarchization is one of the requirements for European integration. The Georgian legislators decided to take the Ukrainian version as a basis. According to the ruling Georgian Dream Party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, the country's richest man, will definitely not be included in the list of oligarchs.
“The main thing for the concept of an oligarch is that a person uses power in his interests and has certain influence over government, in this case we have no such thing. When we talk about oligarchy, believe me, there is no reason to draw such a conclusion with regard to Bidzina Ivanishvili.” Mikhail Sarjveladze, MP from the parliamentary majority, said. Earlier, the billionaire and former prime minister said that he had retired from politics and would not engage in it.
