🇬🇪❤️ Georgia is celebrating the Day of Commemoration of a Hundred Thousand Martyrs.
According to legend, in 1226, Khwarezmid sultan Jalal ad-Din waged war against the Mongols, and wanted to unite all the peoples of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Georgian queen Rusudan refused to obey him and he brought his army into Georgia. With the help of the Persians, he captured Tbilisi and ordered that all icons should be brought from the cathedral church and placed in the center of the bridge over the Mtkvari (Kura) River. The invaders brought people to the bridge, ordering them to stomp the holy icons laid out on the bridge and spit on them. Those who betrayed the Christian faith and insulted icons were spared their lives, while Orthodox confessors were beheaded.
As it has been written in the manunoscripts, one hundred thousand Georgians, who bowed to the holy icons, gave their lives. Their severed heads and decapitated bodies were thrown from the bridge into the river and carried downstream. Tbilisi, along with all its temples, was plundered and practically destroyed.
ℹ️ Vehicle traffic on the Metekhi Bridge in the capital is prohibited from Saturday evening to Sunday 21:00. Thousands of believers come there on this day. A prayer service is held there and the icon of a hundred thousand martyrs is solemnly carried out.

🚠 The construction of a cable car from Rustaveli Avenue to Mount Mtatsminda continues in Tbilisi.
The project, which has been discussed for several years, is entering the main stage. The cable car will have 21 gondolas. They will be able to serve 1200 passengers per hour. The length of the route is more than 800 meters, and the travel time is 4 minutes.
❗️The launch of the cable car is planned for the summer of 2023.
😢 The station in this place was built in 1958 and existed until June 1990, but stopped working after a tragic incident, which killed 20 people.
