🇬🇪❤️ Wednesday, November 23 - Giorgoba: an official holiday in Georgia.

According to tradition, it is customary to visit the temples and celebrate it in the family circle. All over the country on this day, solemn services are held in honor of the patron saint of the country and the most revered Georgian saint.
ℹ️ An interesting fact: the feast in memory of the wheeling of the great martyr George is celebrated only by the Georgian church.
❗️ On November 23, administrative and state institutions, police service centers and the House of Justice will not work. Most banks are closed on Wednesday, only duty branches will remain open (the list is usually published on the website or in the social networks of banks).

🇬🇪❤️ House of writers or Sarajishvili's mansion in Tbilisi.

As the story says, the entrepreneur Sarajishvili built this house for the silver wedding anniversary on the site of his parents' house. Luxuriously decorated mansion quickly became a meeting place for the Tbilisi beau monde. Parties, meetings of artists, discussions, exhibitions and concerts were held here. Some time later, after the death of Sarajishvili, another Georgian businessman Akaki Khoshtaria bought the house and later even hosted Emperor Nicholas II himself in it. He came to Tbilisi to inspect the Caucasian front during World War I.

A few years after the revolution, Khoshtaria left Georgia, and the building passed to the writers and artists of the Georgian Revolutionary Committee. Since then, it has become the House of Writers of Georgia. Gorky, Yesenin, Mayakovsky, Bulgakov visited here, Osip Mandelstam lived in one of the rooms.

🚢 On the second floor and at the entrance to the building there are elements finished with tiles from the famous Villeroy & Boch factory. Tiles with such pattern were ordered at the factory only a few times: for Sarajishvili’s house, the Cologne Cathedral and for the Titanic.

We advise you to visit the house of writers, take a walk through the halls and corridors, and also drink tea with dessert in the courtyard of the Literra cafe.

🇬🇪❤️ Giorgoba was celebrated in Tbilisi: the main celebration took place in the Sameba Cathedral.

Tsminda Sameba is located in the capital, on the hill of St. Elijah and is the second most important cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church after Svetitskhoveli in Mtskheta. This is a place where the townspeople come for all the big holidays. Memorial Day of St. George the Victorious, the patron and most revered saint of Georgia, of course, was no exception.
