🇬🇪❤️ President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili awarded Devi Mezurnishvili and posthumously 13-year-old Marita Meparishvili with the medal "For Civic Selflessness".
The gardener pulled out of the water, despite the tension, two boys and thus saved their lives. The girl died at the same moment from an electric shock in the fountain of Vake Park, when she went down into the water to help two teenagers who had fallen there.

🇬🇪 The main events for Georgia and those that had an impact on it in 2022.
I tried to collect the most important things that happened this year and remember what happened and was discussed in the country.
📍 war of Russia against Ukraine:
✔️ Georgian people support Ukrainians
✔️ cautious position of the current government
✔️ more than 30 thousand refugees from Ukraine came to Georgia
✔️ decline in trade and tourism with Ukraine, which was in the TOP-7 according to these indicators
📍 patriotic and civic upsurge, discussion of occupation and Russia as an enemy
📍 10% double-digit economic growth driven by the recovery of tourism and the migration of Russian citizens, who collectively transferred more than $2 billion into the country
📍 Turkey remains the largest trading partner ($2.5 billion), Russia is second ($2.2 billion) +73%, and China is third ($1.6 billion), a noticeable rapprochement with Azerbaijan
📍 refusal to grant EU candidate status and receiving 12 requirements, but after a series of scandals, vague prospects for obtaining it in 2023
📍 trials against Saakashvili and his stay in the clinic throughout the year, the demands of the opposition and a number of European deputies to extradite him to another country, but the categorical statements of the current authorities that he should be in prison
📍 strong and confident, sometimes with threats, up to the addressee of the president, the position of the ruling party and rather weak, by the end of the year, inconspicuous opposition actions
📍 tourism recovery by 80% from pre-pandemic 2019, a noticeable increase in visitors from the Persian Gulf countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bayhrain) and from Europe (European Wizz Air ranks first in air travel in 2022), maintaining a stable flow of tourists from Russia and Belarus (not only migrants)
📍 more than 100 thousand Russians arrived in Georgia for a long time, traffic jams for more than 5 days in the fall on Upper Lars
📍 Unemployment fell to a historic low
📍 inflation in the average annual value was 11.9%
📍 lari strengthening against the dollar (up to 2.71 gel) and the euro (up to 2.88 gel)

🇬🇪❤️💥 New Year in Tbilisi - 2023 has arrived!
An incredible amount of fireworks and pyrotechnics, a distinctive feature of the Georgian capital. Though there seems to be a little less fireworks this year than last.

🥁🎄 New Year celebration in Tbilisi: fair village on Orbeliani square.
Children's attractions, installations, tents with food and drinks, a lot of beautiful illumination. Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili called it "a Russian village opened under my residence." Perhaps because of the Russian speech, which is really heard from everywhere.

🇬🇪 January 2nd in Georgia is "Bedoba" or Fate Day (bedi = fate).
According to legend, your life in the next year will depend on how you live this day. Last year, in Adjara, by the way, I was "mekvle" - a person who brings happiness, prosperity and good luck to the house. We stopped to take photos in the village. The owner of one of the houses urgently brought us to his place and, without accepting refusal, seated us at table already covered with food, at which his entire large family was sitting. Even the 88-year-old grandmother demanded that we eat and drink with the family. On the table were traditional gozinaki, hot khachapuri, barbecue, salads and food in "three rows". They poured us homemade wine, made toasts, and for a long time did not want to let us go. When we finally left, they presented us with delicious tangerines from their own garden.
❤️ Here it is, soulful and warm Georgia...

🇷🇺➡️🧳🇬🇪 By the end of 2022, up to 60,000 Russians remained in Georgia.
This assessment was given by Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili after the New Year holidays.
According to him, after the start of a full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, more than 200,000 citizens of the Russian Federation entered Georgia for a long time, of which 60,000 remained, and the rest moved to Turkey, Armenia and Europe.
“Georgia in this case was used as a transit country. So the wave that we remember, and especially in one particular period, when the border crossing rate increased (note: September - Upper Lars), of course, stabilized,” the minister said.
❗️Davitashvili also noted that there were no operations through Georgia that circumvented the sanctions. Russian funds participates in just over 1% of the business, which, in his opinion, is very small and does not pose a threat.

✊ Yesterday actions in support of ex-president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili were held all over the world.
Initiated by lawyer Mark Feygin and adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine Oleksiy Arestovich, pickets and meetings with the slogan "Let's save Misha!" held in dozens of countries. Actions were held around the world near the consulates of Georgia, numbering from 3 to 1000 people. The largest number of participants who demanded the release or transfer of the politician to another country for treatment, as expected, were held in Tbilisi and Batumi. Many people gathered in Odessa, where Saakashvili was the governor.
