🇬🇪❤️🥘 A great reason to visit a winter fairy tale: the Gemo Fest festival in Svaneti.
On January 13 and 14, within two days, Mestia will become the center of attraction for the entire region and country. Svan, Georgian and even Ukrainian cuisine.
I'm already drooling over it, to be honest...
🎧 A variety of music and performers are waiting for guests (popular Bedford Falls will perform on the 13th, and Circus Mircus will be on the 14th).
🏔 Mountains, ancient towers and a great mood for all festival participants will be a great bonus. The weather is also good, the long-awaited snow is expected this week (up to 20 cm). The cable cars on Hatsvali are working, which means that everyone can be provided with a dizzying view from above.
ℹ️ Festival page with announcements and schedule: https://www.facebook.com/GemoFest
📌How to get there:
- local airline Vanilla Sky (they have added flights)
- by train or bus to Zugdidi and then 2-3 hours by minibus

🇬🇪❤️ Gabashvili's house in Tbilisi.
In the streets adjacent to Rustaveli Avenue, not far from McDonald's, you can find one of the pearls of the capital - amazingly beautiful house with a carved balcony.
At the end of the 19th century, Prince Vasil lived there with his family. The building was designed by the famous architect Kornely Tatishchev in 1897 (he also designed the Rustaveli Theatre). In front of the main entrance there is a small garden with a fountain. Vasil Gabashvili's descendants still live in the house, which in Soviet times even managed to be a communal apartment. They restored the old mansion, which was threatened with devastation, on their own. The restoration took nine years. What happened, look at the photo.
📍 Here is a big article about the house and its history in English.

🇬🇪❤️☦️ Today Tbilisi will host the traditional Christmas procession - "Alilo".
This is a traditional ancient tradition of celebrating Christmas in Georgia. In the morning, the Christmas service turns into something resembling a carnival procession. Here this event is called "Alilo" - from the word "Hallelujah", that is, the praise of God. This is the beautiful parade in honor of the birth of the baby Jesus, in which the whole city participates. People go in elegant clothes and carol costumes. Participants sing, dance, play musical instruments.
Anyone can join the "Alilo" festive procession. During the procession, donations are collected, which are then distributed to orphanages, nursing homes and correctional facilities. For two years, due to the pandemic, it was not held, and in 2023 a massive and beautiful procession is expected.
ℹ️ "Alilo" will start at 12-00 from the First Republic Square. Due to the procession, the center of Tbilisi (including Rustaveli Avenue and the road to Avlabari Square) will be blocked for traffic.

🚗 Penalties for traffic violations in Georgia.
After the news that fines began to arrive on foreign plates, and, let me remind you, they affect the non-admission to the country in case of non-payment, we made a small reminder for car owners. Today we will tell you about where to check for fines, how to pay and what an unpaid fine can threaten.
📈 Point system
Georgia has a point system for drivers. At the beginning of the every calendar year, the driver is awarded 100 points, and a certain number of points are debited for each violation. If you reach 0, then you are deprived of your driver license for 1 year or until you retake the exam. You can retake the exam earlier, then the rights will be returned faster.
👮♂️ Fines in Georgia
Points are not the only sanction. You may be fined for violating traffic rules. A protocol for violating traffic rules in Georgia is drawn up on the spot and given a period of 30 days to pay it to the bank and 10 days to appeal the fine. If not paid, then the fine is doubled, and a month later tripled + deprivation of rights for half a year.
🔎 Check for fines
Not sure if there is a fine or suspect that it might be? The Georgian police have two similar services: service 1 and service 2. Both are available in English. Using the second link, you can look for fines with the receipt number + car number or by the registration number (STS) and license plate number.
💸 How to pay the fine?
Fines can be paid through fast payment terminals or their online versions: bogpay.ge, tbcpay.ge or pay.ge. On the same services, you can pay for parking or a fine for an incorrectly left car. Also, there is an official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where all the offenses are posted: https://police.ge/protocol/index.php

📸 The Guardian noted in the “Best phone picture” section a picture of Georgian Tinatin Jabanashvili.
“I am not that woman any more. I am stronger,” says the girl after motherhood, which changed her life, “Helen is my first child, and has become my biggest and best inspiration. Before, it was people, streets, shadows and sunshine, but now I’m at home raising my child I’m grateful for every minute, for all the new things she’s doing,” says Tinatin.
