🚘 Travel time from Tbilisi to Gudauri will be reduced from two and a half hours to one and a half hours after the launch of a new road and Kvesheti-Khobi tunnel in 2024.

The new road will bypass the most problematic section of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars highway, which is often closed in winter due to the danger of avalanches. The Kvesheti-Kobi section will be about 23 kilometers long. A two-lane asphalt concrete road, five bridges and five tunnels are under construction. The most difficult of them - 9 kilometers long and 15 meters wide - is dug under the Cross Pass, from the village of Tskere to the village of Kobi. At the moment, 5 km of the future tunnel have been completed.
💰 The cost of the project is estimated at 558 million euros.
