👅 My personal experience of learning the Georgian language: difficulties and tough things.
მე საქართველოში ვარ. (me sakartveloshi var ) = I'm in Georgia.
I will be living in Tbilisi for almost three years soon, but I have little knowledge of the local language: I know the alphabet and numbers, I can explain myself at the market, in a restaurant, show the way and a few hundred everyday words. I read, but because of the small vocabulary, the meaning of many words is unclear. However, there are many names: computer, printer, city names that are written and read the same way. I can say a lot myself, but I don't understand by ear what they say in response. Of the expats who have lived in the country for more than 2-3 years, only 1 in 10 knows the Georgian language well.
❗️ For those coming to Georgia, the difficulties of learning the language are associated with several factors:
✔️ the circle of communication will often consist of people speaking their own language
✔ Georgian is used in few places in the world, so people don't spend energy to study, unless you are planning to live a long time in the country
✔️ no concept of "he, she, it": it such words are replaced by the word "is"
✔️ there are only 5 vowels (ა — a, ე — e, ი — i, ო — o, უ -u)
✔️ in the Georgian language there are two letters T, K, and P, which are pronounced differently
✔️ complex verbs and conjugation is tough
✔️ language is very quick and emotional, with a lot of guttural and raucous sounds
✔️ stress not expressed, the words are spoken in a singsong voice
✔️ a lot of hardly-reproducible words (gvprtskvnis - გვფრცქვნის)

There are huge, sometimes even hourly traffic jams in the center, many people go to the city center with children. Hundreds of people are walking on Rustaveli Avenue, everyone is happily photographing New Year decorations and the main Christmas tree at the Parliament. It feels like the mood is festive.
